Love to see people enjoying their time in our amazing city! A breakfast that I usually make for myself is maize porridge with a little cinnamon sprinkled on top and a Red Cappuccino

Thank you very much! That sounds like a very tasty way to start the day :)

I live in S. A. and I love rooibos tea. For breakfast we would do usually bacon, eggs and toast. Or if you had a braai the previous night and there is left over meat we would cut it up in bits and put Aromat (which is almost like salt) and a little bit of lemon juice over it and warm it up and basicly add it to our breakfast or as a snack :)
@samuelandaudrey7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for sharing that with us! The leftover braai with aromat sounds delicious :)

Samuel and Audrey - Travel and Food Videos Maize Porridge called MIELIEPAP. We eat it with milk (fresh or Amasi - cultured milk) and sugar and butter. s....well not only for breakfast. With Boerewors (coriander and nutmeg beef sausage) and Seshebo (tomato and onion) relish. Sometimes mieliepap with kaiings also served (fried out pieces of fat and meat). agreed aromat huge in RSA. We do eat braaivleis (barbeque) for breakfast as leftovers.
@priscillataljaard98537 жыл бұрын
and baked beans!!!! how could i forget. on toast. fried with garlic. as a side to traditional English and instead of pork sausage we do the Boerewors.
@mrpandabites6 жыл бұрын
So a typical South African breakfast is actually quite varied. Depending on what I feel like it ranges from toast with cheese and Marmite (or fishpaste and gherkins) to porridge (oats, maizemeal, or wheat porridge) to your run-of-the-mill Kellogg's breakfast cereals to a bowl of muesli or fruit with yoghurt if I'm feeling healthy. On the weekends I like to cook myself an English breakfast with eggs, bacon, mushrooms and toast and if I eat out I might have anything from Peri-Peri chicken livers to pancakes or waffles.
@adolfobriceno16357 жыл бұрын
Hi Sam and Audrey. You guys always surprise me and this time with a breakfast with Rooibos tea and biscotti,. That's typically South African. You even had the Boerewors and you remembered the name from the braai. How nice. It looks delicious but I would have exchanged the Rooibos (red bush) tea for a Red Rose tea. Did you know that the South African Rand takes its name from the Witwatersrand ("White-waters-ridge"), the ridge where most of South Africa's gold deposits were found and where Johannesburg was built? and Yes I also love digging deep in the culture and traditions of a country like you guys are going in South Africa. I am sure you had enjoyed your trip. I love Cape Town.
@samuelandaudrey7 жыл бұрын
Thank you very much! Oh, Red Rose tea. We didn't know that. Ah, we had a great time. Always love coming back to SA.
@adolfobriceno16357 жыл бұрын
Red Rose tea is like Lipton tea here in America but I think it's much better. That was another great video and I think I had breakfast at that same place as well. LOL

to answer your question, "what does a typical south african have for breakfast?" lol I'll attempt answering that question, like it differs from which day it is and also which home you're in, like in my home on week days (monday-friday ) varies from penny polonies with egg and toast with coffee or tea, or the penny gets swopped for sausage or vienna with some beans or mushrooms, sometimes corn-flakes/ maize meal with sugar and butter/ weet bix
@samuelandaudrey7 жыл бұрын
Thank you for sharing that! Love the variety. It sounds like we only scratched the surface as we didn't try half the things you mentioned.

@thePanda_huma6 жыл бұрын
Strawberry 〈/3 thats actually not too far... it varies from family to family but most cases weekend breakfasts are more decedent than weekday breakfasts. in my family my dad likes a grilled panini with onion, cheese and tomato with tea. mom likes toast, eggs, sausage, tomato and cheese. yet my brother enjoys his cereals/ muslie with either milk or yogurt and fruit. most sundays its pastries and samoosas... it literally varies weekly/ daily/ monthly...

Kimberly Binion yeah i saw the tutorial already, lol check out verne troyer | best sandwich ever, didn't look or soind appealing then and i don't think it'll ever sound appealing to me, sorry, id much rather have a scone with some jam, btw peanut butter with egg and rice, that's what indonesian locals eat for breakfast
@jimmitheflowerhornandfrien15477 жыл бұрын
it started for me because I always put jam on my toast. I would dip my toast in my egg and it would have the jam on it. I thought it was good. the thought of pb does not sit well with me. I should try it before I knock it.
