I have recently discovered this dancer that I find not only fabulous to watch but also insightful to listen to in interviews. Fortunately, this interview was translated in English, so I was able to appreciate a more subtle conversation which raised some strong barriers in the milieu of art and management in general when big money is involved... his vision on how the world of dance should change and improve to allow more freedom for dancers is beautiful but quite naive too. It seems impossible to me to expect seeing some cerebral metamorphosis from artistic institutions regardless where they are in the World... They make huge amounts of profits from artist dancers like Sergei for just a few years until they are labelled too old to continue their career as principal dancers with all the added restrictions during the process... Nevertheless, I really like his way of thinking: inclusive towards everyone, loving towards nature and people, a facilitator for the fusion of art and its expression and a very genuine personality as far as his openness to new ideas and concepts in the field of dance and other forms of art are concerned...this is how I appreciate Sergei to be 'serving his mission'. Beautiful.

Whenever I hear Polunin talk - always in this calm, thoughtful way - it seems that in between that man and the one who expresses so intense feelings on the stage (and on his own body and stances) there must be a big distance. All in all it seems to me that he must be intelligent and that he is really giving a thought to what is going on, but probably in a naïve way, Let´s see and hope that it won’t be the case!

I didn't know this interview at all and I must say that I find it wonderful. She was a little shake too, because Sergei says a sentence that I heard for myself a few months ago (I have to do a little research about it I think, but I may have little idea). In any case it is a very intelligent person, coupled with great wisdom and sacred lucidity and as I had imagined. he amused me when he said that he wouldn't like to dance Romeo and Juliet ... Thank you for sharing it with us :)

It was Irina who translated it and once I saw it, I thought it would be a shame if more people didn't watch this, so that people would get a glimpse of the artist behind the art :) I am glad that you enjoyed it :)

For the love of dance? That is what I see when Poulinin dances. It seems above all else that he dances for the love of dance That is what I see when he dances. There is beauty in his freedom of movement.

I really enjoyed this interview. It adressed interesting questions and didn't even mention his tattoos or his posts on social media. It is just weird for me to listen to these interviewers in russian, they speak so unnaturally, so fast and without any intonation. I have noticed that in every single intreview, but then Sergei speaks and it's like listening to the most beautiful melody in existance.
