We used to do that every May. Get up before the Dawn, drive to our favourite woodland, walk to a large tree in the middle of the wood and sit and listen to the Dawn chorus. That is how memories are made. We’d get home about 9am and I would say what’s for lunch? 😂😂😂. I think maybe we should do it again this year! Because we can!

Lovely video and fun to watch. Liked Julia’s idea of wearing the blanket. Glad you managed to see the sunrise and get some great shots despite the cloud patches. Breakfast al Fresco at Dawn sounds magical. Very stoic of you both given the low outside temperature. Must be the glow of camaraderie kept you both going. Maybe you could do some star-jumps exercises to get yourselves warmed up like Walter Wilkinson said he did if it was a cold morning when he woke up. Great video though, you are both lovely to watch.

I was given a Labrador puppy 18months ago. To walk him before work, I get up before dawn each day and walk him along the beach as the sun is rising. It's no way near as cold (12 degrees min) and there is a cappuccino at the café at the halfway point where I watch videos like this, and George the lab has his bone. It's become the highlight of my day.

What beautiful scenery! A great view to sit and enjoy breakfast, despite the cold. The cold weather made the view even more magical with the fog and frosty fields. I would edit out the bits about being too early or too cold and play up the adventure! Love your idea to putting the kettle on while watching the day arrive. Spontaneous adventures are the best!

My step sister and her husband bought a van and converted it to travel around the U.S. Bed, cupboards, kitchen sink etc. If you get to cold in the morning. setting up a little portable propane heater works well to sit outside. They make the attachment heater to screw on to the propane tanks. Here in Wisconsin many people use them to ice fish. I really like the idea of traveling to a location and setting up a table and eating/watching the scenery.

The downs looked stunning early morning. That is one of the joys of camping or staying out in the countryside - seeing the changing light and hearing the dawn chorus. Shame the road was slightly intrusive. I guess the sun perhaps rose slightly behind the hills as well as the cloud bank. Still on the whole a good start to those van days / nights to come in the future!

Thankyou both for sharing your breakfast with us, you devil may care, let the cards fall where they may, merry madcaps.... What a shame the sun didn`t fully emerge, and dear God, that looks so cold - much more so than here in our NZ autumn which I find quite cold enough! I too enjoyed the sound of pheasants while walking my dogs this morning but was able to return swiftly home to a breakfast of coffee and toast and a warm house. I live abroad now but back in my past life my (ex)wife and I often walked up to Chanctonbury Ring to watch the sunset. We'd be the last people up there - that magnificent scenery all to ourselves. There are so many nice spots along the Downs but one I particularly remember is Devil's Dyke on one cold and foggy winter's evening when all you could see was the ridge itself. Everything below us was shrouded in fog. It was like walking on a cloud. We walked till nightfall then warmed up in the pub which was virtually empty so rather cosy.

These will stop you Wakering up one morning, because you a flat vehicle battery. I have done that after falling asleep and leaving my lights on. The last one is sheer luxury maXpeedingrods 5KW Air Diesel Heater. All can be got from the well known online shop. I must admit the only one I have is the Leisure Battery.
