Riase5 Louis has over 100,000 people watching him daily, sometimes more. I think the idea of an upandcoming designer doing work for him in return for that kind of audience is a fabulous idea. And to be honest a lot of people would be honoured to have their work featured on a Louis video simply because it would almost be a gift. And just as a side note many lawyers DO unpaid/pro bono work for promotion on high profile cases, which would be a similar thing here - so bad example there. At the end of the day Louis isn't forcing ANYONE to create him something you either oblige or you don't and move onto the next project.

I'm seeing more and more people asking for free design work these days and it's really starting to piss me off. Do you think I spent all these years learning my trade to do you free work? - NO Do you think I spend a fortune employing talented, experienced designers to do your free work? - NO Do you think I spend a fortune on Macs and software to do your free work? - NO Do you think I spend a fortune on rent, rates, insurances, tax etc to do your free work? - NO Do you think we just push a few buttons on a Mac and out pops a fully formed, considered, researched, perfectly designed, scalable brand that takes into account your product, service, market sector, target audience without even a brief? - NO Design is a skill that takes time to perfect not a worthless commodity so don't treat it like one. I wish I was creative to help in a design. I mentioned it before about keeping your channel somewhat organic. I hope that is part of the new branding as well. By that I mean there is a certain chill factor and even though your adventures are awesome and exciting I would hate for your channel to look like someone took you over and it's so polished and slick like a TV commercial or such that you are very scripted. I disagree with Louis's critics on this one. There is no official intrinsic value of freelance work that is carved in stone somewhere in the universe. The value of your work is what somebody is willing to pay for it. Sometimes that payment is in the form of promotion that leads to much more payment and exposure down the road. It's fine to choose for yourself to not do work for free. It's fine for to choose for yourself to choose to pay people for their work. But you have to acknowledge how many people have been able to jumpstart their creative careers by doing unpaid work and internships that wouldn't exist if they had a price floor. You risk pricing these opportunities out of the market by demanding payment. I say give people the choice to decide which type of compensation they're willing to work for. Anyone who doesn't find Louis's proposal of design in exchange for promotion to be profitable is free to reject his offer.

I love your vlog, Louis- I follow you on a daily basis but I can I be frank? It's a little offensive to ask freelancers to give away work for free or for the sake of promotion. In all my years of freelancing the whole "work for free and you'll get exposure" thing has never worked. In fact, it's the paid jobs that has gotten my work noticed. I think you have the means to pay for a logo+ animation anyway. Why not just commission it that way instead of asking people to do stuff for free. Or at the very least, a good token fee + some agreed (carefully planned out) exposure. Or make it a contest with a prize! Just don't ask it for free. We still need to eat, pay bills and many of us are already supporting families. Please keep that in mind. I know you aren't forcing people to do anything but also think of the way the market is designed. With your status and fame, you are doing more harm than good by asking people to spend hours on something they've been trying to master for years and give it for free (of course you'll pick the really good ones right?) Peace out, enjoy life and live the adventure.... and please pay people for their work ... please. Boom.

We do have RFID and NFC chip cards Louie. It's New York Transit that is behind the times. We've had the touch system in Chicago for over 10 years. You don't even have to have a special card. You can use any credit or debit card you have, that has a RFID chip in it already, with your transit account. That includes using NFC equipped systems like ApplePay on iPhone 6/6s and the Apple Watch. You need to get away form New York and LA more often when you are here to avoid getting a skewed view of America. ;)
