You didn't live in the early 80's if you think thats looks like a female you really would hate to see what big tough men wore in the early 80s lol. cut off shirts, tiny shorts knee high socks. LOL

turbo, the man that made the movie... making one of the most memorable street dance scenes with a boombox, a broom with a wedge inside the brush, white nike sneakers & two pieces of clear fishing string. he could have had his own movie or show in the day.

I remember going to see this movie opening night at our local movie theater 🎭 back in May 4, 1984. I was 9 months pregnant with my first child and 26 DAY’S later I had her, after I went to see the movie again for the 2nd time and then I saw it again with my daughter After she was born & when she was just a week old 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰 This dance sequence was the BEST IN THE WHOLE MOVIE. It showed you the skills that this young man had and all to a Great techno song. The 80’s were the BEST IN MUSIC HISTORY. I’m STILL WATCHING THIS IN JUNE OF 2021

When this movie came out "Tour de France" wasn't even out yet. Not available as a 12" single or on the Breakin' soundtrack. Had to wait a minute to get the 12" from the record stores. We use to rent these movies and record the audio of the songs we liked that weren't on the soundtrack on cassette tape. When you went to see breakdance movies in the 80's the audience had most of the lines memorized and would say them out load in the theatre. I saw Beat Street several times and each time it seemed like the audience knew every single line. Props to the musical director of this movie for picking this tune. The should have used "Numbers" too.

Just saw Kraftwerk on Sunday in Cleveland. If you ever get a chance to see them live, go ! One of the most amazing live performances in 3D ! I yelled “ Turbo “ when this track started. I also had the 12’ record back when I was a kid. Priceless memories!!!!!!

When you see lists for greatest dance movies or scenes of all time, this scene should be included... just like we all have seen other hit movies...with stand-out scenes "Smokey and the Bandit",bridge jumping scene,"Jaws", attacking the ship ripping it apart,"Raiders of the lost ark"amazing truck scene,"E T,the flying bikes scene...all of these legendary scenes,no one saw coming, until they happened which left audiences amazed and awed by what they just witnessed. This scene is most definitely apart of Hollywood/Cinema history.

This is one of those serendipitous scenes that really elevates this movie. Michael is so sincere in this performance, and the song is magical. And I was so bummed they didn't include this track (Kraftwerk's Tour De France) on the LP! I didn't know who did it at the time, and I loved it so much. I actually just saw Kraftwerk perform it live in LA this week!

This movie was so influential in that time period. And I remember when I first saw this scene it was incredible. It's so creative and paired with the music it's iconic. I wish I saved the cassette tape of the soundtrack. I remember it came with a fold out of how to do all the moves. It was an incredible time. Kids used to bring cardboard to school so they can break and battle during recess at LeConte Jr High.
