Assange did what he had to do to go free, and I'm glad he's out. This was an outrage. However, that guilty plea is BS. Assange did not commit a crime; the US government did.

Just because he doesn't rot in a US prison, doesn't mean he didn't endure years of harassment, asylum, t*rture, and imprisonment abroad. He will walk free, but this will still have a chilling effect on future whistleblowers, and you are lying if you say it won't otherwise. That's the big takeaway. The government still got the desired effect. This is a victory for Assange, but still a loss for the world.

I am glad he is out. But he was working with Russia and skipped bail. He allowed himself to suffer. He could've turned himself in. Been in a white color prison for 5 years and speak out when he is done.

In modern justice system everyone knows getting plea under a threat ( of staying in prison forever ) has zero value. Assange can wipe his ass with plea as soon as he gets in Australia..

You're so honoured to be with the brother of the man you laughed at and mocked after having to spend 6 years in a room desperately trying to escape entire nation states attempting to capture him for exposing their war crimes?? And seeing as you are real journalists in solidarity with your comrade, did you stop to think: "hmm does someone have something to gain from making these claims?", before repeating them and calling him disgusting? Let's even say it was true, do you have the ability to put yourselves in the shoes of a man who has been forced to spend 6 years in a room being hunted by agencies with a rich history of politically motivated assassinations and disregard for international law? Do you think maybe that level of stress and hoplessness after 6 years might have an effect on someone's nervous system and behaviour? Did you remember laughing at him while talking to his brother?

@@001sander2 Probably was saving it to get votes. The tragic part of it is that even then he still didn't do the right thing. Dropping charges or a pardon were the only decent actions.

UNSUBSCRIBED. I just saw a clip of Krystal and Sagaar from a few years ago where they were laughing and giggling and making fun about Julian Assange being locked up...they thought it was the greatest, most funniest thing ever. So totally disgusting.

I would not trust the US enough to set foot on their soil regardless of their promises. like that guy who went into the Saudi embassy in Istanbul and was carried out in suitcases, going into the territory of your enemy is fraught with peril. all that has to happen is that the judge doesn't accept the deal, and they have him in US custody.
