"When you see a cockroach, what do you do? You don't think about it, you just step down" - Hank Schrader This was his response to Walt's question on where do you think criminals come from. Hank sees them as nothing more than vermin and trash, it doesn't matter what their justification is. I certainly do believe that there is a power high for him when he humiliates them, but ultimately he joined the DEA because he despises all criminals.

It's weird how much they're freaking out about pot...but it's also hard to remember how easy people's opinions have changed about weed over even the last decade. This show came out in 2008. For white women living in the south, grew up during Nancy Reagan just say no times plus the 70's, smoking pot was the like the worst thing that could happen to their family. Ironic given the show and what will happen but still. Heck even California a few years ago voted down a referendum to legalize weed. Some opinions evolve quickly when they finally shift. I know one woman who threatened to disown her son if she caught him smoking weed again. I think the point is to show how sheltered they are to freak out about that while Walter is literally about to start dealing drugs and is contemplating murder.
@Vad3r6 жыл бұрын
Actually no, California recently did legalize marijuana this year, trust me I know! 21 and up recreational use!
@MegaJufy6 жыл бұрын
"Heck even California a few years ago voted down a referendum to legalize weed. " Because the people growing in Cali would have been required to follow the law. They make more money with it being illegal. Legalization comes with requirements about the amount of plants you can grow and the amount you can sell. The excess must be disposed of. If you are caught selling beyond the legal allowance, you will lose the ability to grow, and also face jail time. The growers in Cali only care about money.

Hank is actually the best, goodest at heart character in this whole series. I really appreciate him. I know that when you have to deal with a lot of seriously fucked up shit on a daily basis you become blunt in a way you speak and act to protect yourself, to be able to function and not break down. And his moral compass is always pointing in the right direction even when he's very mean. He's not racist. Normally if he encounters a person of color he doesn't view them through some racist outlook. But at work it's only realistic for him and he just jokes with his partner and co-workers who just have to be realistic for their own sake, at the very least. Not to mention public safety.

@bloergk6 жыл бұрын
So either all sensitive people have to change their emotions, or non-sensitive people have to police themselves a bit. Either way, a huge group of people has to change themselves unfortunately. Of course if you're in the non-sensitive group, you'd want the other group to be the one that changes, and vice-versa. I'd argue it's a easier to be a bit more careful with what you say (what the non-sensitives have to do) than to completely change your emotions so that insults don't hurt you (what the sensitives have to do) so it's not surprising society pushes for less public insulting jokes instead of pushing for thicker skins.

Specifics are important, as you will learn as the show goes on.

1. You think you could have cold cocked him before he got you? How many hits to put him down? 2. Now you have another bloody mess to clean up. It struck me that the group's reaction of disgust to the opening scene didn't factor in when they were pretty cavalier about killing Domingo with a gun.

The sound of the gunshot, how many people are close enough to hear 2. the cleanup 3. transporting a corpse that is leaking blood out of it means bad news. There's a reason most mob members plastic bag strangle their victims, easy to move with no blood and no on site cleanup.

Andy Jones First of all liking your own comments gives me a vivid image of your mental capabilities. Now as far as the show, it's a show kid, it's not real life. You aren't going to dissolve the body in a few hours in a container of acid like your dim brain was led to believe. You will have to carry the body with it's brains leaking out to wherever you're disposing it, dissolving it, etc. Strangling him the way Walt did is far less messy and a wiser move than wasting a bullet and putting a bullet hole in your wall. As far as your range in New Jersey, you're outside where sound can dissipate not in a neighborhood stacked house to house. You have no idea whatsoever what his neighbors think or live like, all it takes is one mistake and that's it.
@philglass2956 жыл бұрын

I'm the one with mental issues, sure bud you seem real normal. By the way I'm a vet too, 2 tours in Iraq, combat tours not POG shit. Using your military service as a boasting point isn't in the least bit intimidating and is disrespectful to the very essence of what it means to be a veteran. Have a good one, buddy.

It wasn't in the Normies' footage, but in the full opening, Walt and Jesse were shown to be dumping baking soda on that human smoothie of a mess to neutralize the acidity in contents. But flushing down that mass of stuff including some sort of salt (NaF in this case) wouldn't be good for the pipes if done constantly. With Walter's act this episode, if that makes any sense at all, I would call it sort of a delayed act of self-defense. Legally it's gray territory at best or probably non-sensical but I can understand his reasoning. In crime circles you probably can't afford to think legally, you have to cover your bases in all sorts of illegal ways because you 'are' based in an illegal environment. Murder or be murdered so to speak, it is still murder but naturally it makes sense to not be murdered anyhow.

I have so many things to comment on. Micky, I see you warming up to Vikings with that hair, you look good, my friend :-) And the show. Breaking Bad is a show where you really, really get to know the characters, in each their own way. You may hate Marie, hate Skyler, think Hank is too brutal and forward, and so on, but that's what the show wants you to, they're all stereotypes. They all have their very own demons that many people, in this real life, can relate to, but never share. Look at Marie just snatching those shoes, without any remorse, you would never think that about such an appropriate woman. And Walt. A complete stranger in this field of "work". The pros/cons list, I mean, oh my god. Episode THREE of his entire transformation. We're so early in this. I love this show so much. And as Micky said, the cinematography is insane. Not like anything I've seen. Pay close attention to the scenes, the comedy, the conversations, and appreciate the show for it's uniqueness ❤️❤️

He and the other cops insult and trash talk each other all the time, as a form of camaraderie. Hank has complete respect for Gomez and the reverse is true as well, they trash talk each other over any topic possible, including using racist jokes that they don't actually mean.

Vad3r I would not say it's better than Breaking Bad; Ozymandias alone trumps any episode of BCS, and is also the only episode to make me break down in tears. BCS is very well written, but it does have a habit of dragging on at times.

Better Call Saul is better in so many ways, and I LOVE Breaking Bad. The characters are fleshed out, the drama is far more real, and the ability to cause emotion to the viewer... just wow. If you are looking for action, Breaking Bad is better, if you are looking for drama, yeah BCS beats BB.
@Jeremy-jm3fe6 жыл бұрын
Vad3r Yeah, absolutely not. "The characters are fleshed out, the drama is more real" how the hell did BB not have gripping drama or fleshed out characters? None of the main cast was one-dimensional. I suggest watching the video "Jesse Pinkman lived for your sins" if you somehow missed the intricate character complexities of this show. Many of the details are subtle. Vince Gilligan pitched this as a series about "change", and if anything, there is a bigger focus on character nuances than the story itself. If you think Breaking Bad is all about action like a crappy Michael Bay film, I'm not sure what show you were watching.

Vad3r Oh, I am very open to varying opinions, however, you insinuating that Breaking Bad is nothing but a mindless action show is objectively wrong. Is Micky talking about The Lost Symbol? Because I don't think that experiment is real. Dan uses a lot of facts on his books, but I don't believe this to be one of them.

THE signature New Mexico show. I LOVE it. I know that shady hotel! It's historic and boring. I swear, we're not a meth capital state 🤣

I drive by that hotel every now and then, and feel it's pretty accurate in the show. Sketchy as hell even though it's right across from a major hospital.

Lmao that's the first time I've seen someone call this a "New Mexico show"
