This is the difference between Gus and Walter. Gus is perfectly happy to have people believe that he is just a simple chicken restaurant manager. Probably more than happy to let people take credit for the bad stuff he has done. If Walt had some humility, he would just let Hank think that Gail was the one behind everything. But his ego won't let him.

19:37 yes of course it’s Walt ego & pride here, but recognize it’s not just that Gale gets credit for his genius, Hank also unknowingly pierced at Walt’s ego’s core by pointing out what Walt COULD have accomplished with his genius. Keep in mind at this point Walt has every reason to believe he will be killed soon by Gus. He’s powerless & trapped. It’s not just his ego lashing out for pride’s sake, it’s lashing out because it's deeply wounded at this moment. The key to financial success is controlling the distribution -- and that is Gus. You've yet to see his backstory, but you'll understand when you do. Walter doesn't get that he (meaning Walter himself) is "only" a chemist or "the" chemist and has no expertise in distribution whatsoever. Of course, if Walt were content with his role as chemist, there wouldn't be any point in continuing the series. Love you guys.

The thing about Walt is, he is an extremely intelligent and academically accomplished man, but the turns life took him down have left him filled with an impotent rage at the thought that he was robbed of what was his and denied the respect he feels he deserves, he is for lack of better wording, a weak man. This is what drives his actions, his desire to be respected the way he "feels" he is owed, and every time he touches a glimpse of power he's blinded by it. He is ultimately his own worst enemy and most of his troubles are his own doing. It is EXTREMELY frustrating to watch but also fascinating to see the path he is on, and where it leads. Ppl have said it here before but dude, hang in. Shits finna get real bumpy

With regard to Hank, Walt is clearly self-sabotaging, but with regard to Gus I think his actions here more or less make sense. From the box cutter scene onward, he's been operating under the assumption that Gus can't kill him yet, and probably won't kill Jesse on account of the risk that Walt might refuse to work if he did, but at some point, plans to kill them both. The only option he thinks he has is to kill Gus before that point. Sure, maybe there's still repercussions coming in response to killing Gus, but that unknown is being weighed against the certainty that Gus will kill them if he isn't killed. Right now, he doesn't have any clever plan for how to do it, he's just decided that he needs to shoot him whenever he can get the opportunity to. Granted, even though he brings the gun to Pollos Hermanos, I don't think he plans to kill him so publicly (if he did, he would have already tried showing up at Pollos). In this case, he's just trying to make sure nothing's happened to Jesse. He has no way of knowing where Jesse is or what's happened to him except to ask Gus or Mike. He's presumably carrying the gun as just a safety precaution, though it's also plausible he thought he might need to threaten Gus to find out. He knows that he's temporarily safe by the mere fact that he wasn't killed already, but he can't be certain that's the case for Jesse. Even though he threatened he wouldn't cook if they hurt Jesse, Gus could always call his bluff there and threaten his family to make him work. It's not a particularly clever or creative plan, but as a pure brute force solution for a guy who doesn't seem have a lot of options, it does make sense. Walt does have a small upper hand in the short term, since he knows Gus really does need him more than he needs Gus. He doesn't have the power to kill Gus, but the second he does he will. Gus has had the power to kill him at any time, and absolutely has the motive and desire to do so but hasn't. Consequently, Gus is tipping his hand a bit, and granting Walter a degree of leverage that puts Gus in danger.

@treyfromtheland3385
@treyfromtheland3385 Ай бұрын
Nah I agree with what you said except the unreasonable panic part. Walt’s panic was 100% reasonable. Powerful people that he doesn’t trust randomly takes a Jesse that’s been acting out. These same people already threatened both their lives and at this point in the story; we are to believe that the only reason Jesse is alive is because of Walt. We also believe that Gus doesn’t care for Jesse that much and doesn’t like working with junkies. So Walt and the audience have all the reason to believe Mike and Gus would dispose of/ hurt Jesse in someway. So for that reason; Walt’s panic is justified and honestly commemorable.

Walter is a megalomaniac and everything he does he feels justified in his actions. You have to remember he did this before in a different realm of science and he believes his work was stolen from him; which is why he’s covets the blue so selfishly, he believes it’s his product or invention. So even working under Gus, it’s obviously not about the money anymore, it’s about Walt grabbing more power.

Umm..., Isn't this supposed to be a reaction video? Where is the reaction from 3:40 to 3:55? I wished youtube had word filtration to bleep out certain words like "like".

Believe when I say u guys have no idea what Walt is capable of... at least u haven't seen nothing yet. Trust me, Walt is very calculated and good at planning. Maybe not on Gus's level, but Gus also has Mike helping him.
