I don't think I see enough people talk about how Hank says, "There's no rock show" in this episode. Before he was obsessing over minerals and getting angered when his wife called them rocks, because he desperately wanted something to hold onto and be proud of during his period of dissociation, and the way his wife casually brushed it off bothered him deeply. Now that he's got his purpose in life back, he couldn't give two shits about some stupid rocks anymore. It's pretty cool how such throwaway dialogue can tell its own story like that.

ok, so here's my theory on Gustavo, I have no idea if it has been officially back-filled, so this is probably wrong: he was a high ranking officer in Pinochet's regime. That would provide the means for him to hhave acquired connected and resources, as well as the access and power to erase his official records once things went bad, and to peace out with ill-gotten gains, part of which I am certain would be from facilitating drug shipments, which would explain why the drug cartel would know him and know he's the valuable partner. It would explain his cultured manner that masked an ability to get seriously and efficiently brutal.
@fakub20265 жыл бұрын
In BCS we learn that Gustavo was poor (very likely that him will do militar training if he had no future) and conecting it with him saving his partner in the past, I think that he escaped from Pinochet's regime when it went down... the dictatorship ended in 1990, and Gustavo ask if there wasn't any records from before 1989... Gus's background is left undisclosed but it is heavily implied that he was a major figure in Chile and a key player in the Pinochet government or its overthrow (or maybe both). However the business he build was all by himself and the cartel eventually contacted him simply because of the opportunities he could provide. After all their territory is south of the border and his is north of the border. Beyond that that are just business partners. The cartel simply has more fire power. The way it is portrayed in this show it reminds me of the scalpel and hammer comparison.. The Cartel is the hammer and Gus is the Scalpel.
