Walt give Jesse a chance to kill him. That's Walt's way of saying sorry to Jesse. But the ultimate closure was Jesse throwing the gun back to Walt. He said "do it yourself" which was Jesse saying that he's no longer Walt's pawn and is free of him.
@carinak6196 ай бұрын
Saying sorry would be an insult at this point. Their relationship is far too messed up for words to mean anything anymore. Saving his life and setting him free is a much more meaningful thing to do. And even giving him the opportunity for revenge by passing him the gun.
@isaiahromero9861Ай бұрын
But also, him passing Jesse the gun was really about him wanting to die, which is why when Walt says "you want this" to Jesse, Jesse tells him to say "I want this" instead because Walt is still manipulating him and Jesse just wants him to be honest. It's like a parallel to the desert scene in "confessions", except this time Walt DOES acknowledge what Jesse is saying and tells him "I want this", instead of further manipulating him like in the desert scene. I think that alone also meant something to Jesse that says a lot more than a simple apology.
@carinak619Ай бұрын
@isaiahromero9861 Yes, I agree. I also saw it as manipulation from Walt's side and Jesse not shooting him as not doing what Walt wants anymore. But I hadn't thought about the "you want this"/"I want this" dialogue as Jesse making Walt drop the manipulation tactics and Walt showing respect to Jesse by acknowledging that. Very interesting insight.
@carlwheezer1640Ай бұрын
@@carinak619 Personally, I don't think there was any manipulation going on in that scene. Walt genuinely thought Jesse would want revenge, since it's because of him he spent months being forced to cook and being treated like a slave by Nazis, and he didn't have anything else to live for by that point. Dying right there and then with Jesse getting his revenge seemed like the right thing for him. Jesse wanted to kill Walt, which is why he aims the gun at him in the first place, but demands that he says that he wants it since despite it all he still has that bond with him. It's not until Walt says that he wants it that Jesse looks at him further and notices how messed up he is, and that he even took a bullet for him after setting him free, and realises that he can't do it. He really wanted to shoot him, like Walt initially assumed, but he couldn't at that point. Thus, he drops the gun and tells him to do it himself.

They stuck the landing. That's honestly rare in TV. Overall, what BB really reminds me of is a classic tragedy, in the Shakespearean or Greek tradition. The protagonist's own hubris is his downfall, and it was buried in him the whole time, it just came out through the events of the plot. By the end here, he's almost like the ghost of Heisenberg, setting right what little he can, and finally admitting what he can't. Remember, there's still El Camino and all of Better Call Saul to watch. We're not done until we (the commenters) say we're done...

The title for the finale is intricate- as for the periodic table FeLiNa, is iron, lithium and sodium. Iron is in blood, lithium in meth and sodium in tears. Felina is an anagram for finale. Its also the name of the woman in the song that Walt hums when he builds a robot in the desert. When Walter was hanging over that crib, saying goodbye to his daughter for the last time Skyler could have had some kind of change of heart about him. In the closing scene of 0504, 'Fifty-One' Walter tells Skyler she will change her mind about him. If there ever was a moment it was here imo. Something a lot of people overlook is Walter took out so many people in the drug business that you could say he positively effected it in that regard. Also Gretchen & Elliot spoke on Charlie Rose about their 28 million dollar charity grant announcement for drug abuse treatment centers in the south west that would have never been possible without Walter. Walter builds a robot in the desert to save Jesse & his family which is a call back to 4 Days Out when Jesse suggests building a robot to save them from the desert- 4 Days Out is Aaron Paul's favorite episode from the series. Speaking of the desert theme, for the entirety of the show. Walt's own bullet taking him out feels almost biblical in how only Jesus himself could take his life at crucifixion like how Walter gets shot in his side. The lab's skeleton form crosshairs over Walter in that final frame (the lab representing an extension of Walter himself). Walter even mentions Gretchen & Elliot's view of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains (Spanish for "Blood of Christ") in this episode. Walter- Mr. Lambert is wearing khaki as a call back to his wardrobe from the pilot, his dress pants from the opening scene & Ozymandias with a green shirt for Breaking Bad / the show's periodic table and the inside of his jacket being blue, for well, you know. The show as a whole is lightning in a bottle. Watching it is like watching perfection playout on screen, every episode. It's almost surreal. There's no better fictional character that has more depth, a greater character arc and superior acting than Bryan Cranston as Walter H. White. They encapsulate the development and metamorphosis of a character with redeeming qualities along the way, so well & so seamlessly that it changes everything else you watch following it. It really is like the perfect drug- the 99.1% pure storytelling. Breaking Bad was released at the perfect time imo between the over all production quality in general, the music at the time, the financial crash of 2008 and for being one of the last politically incorrect shows. Imo no other series even comes close to BB when you really go through it with a fine-tooth comb. It is exceptional. Anthony Hopkins, after completing Breaking Bad wrote Bryan Cranston a letter stating his acting was the best he's seen - ever.

Can we at least give Walt credit for taking a key role is the dismantling of 5 major drug empires? Something Hank spent the entire series trying to figure out. 1. He made the Mexican cartel obsolete by cooking for Gus and allowing Gus the ability to kill everyone in the cartel since he no longer had to rely on them to supply product. 2. Killed Gus and all of his minions to end his cartel during their rivalry. 3. Voluntarily retired to end his cartel. 4. Made a product that was so addictive and so difficult to replicate that it made Declan expendable and allowed Jack’s crew to kill them. 5. Killed Jack’s crew and Lydia effectively destroying the entire southwest U.S. meth operation

I think Walt was just sad for what happened to Jesse, but there's no use or need to try to say sorry. I'm sure he stands by many of the decisions he made, and he feels hurt by many of the things Jesse did. The only thing he did was a nod at the end, like "its over, I did what I could".
@hermanubis966 ай бұрын
There is no need for Walter to literally say the words "I am sorry" for people to understand the final scenes, unless you lack intelligence to process visual cues or have no media literacy. Walter surrendering his gun to Jesse is a symbolic gesture of him acnowledging that he is not good, and that Jesse will be set free with his sacrifice. Also, their final look as Jesse gets into the car clearly indicates that they have reached a final understanding of sorts and can finally move on from their partnership.

There were three instances of Walt obtaining a set of keys from a place above himself, each time preceding him killing a character. - The key to the bike lock trapping Krazy-8 is kept on top of a cabinet. Krazy-8 dies shortly after. - The key to Mike's to-go bag is kept on top of a beam in the airport parking lot. Mike dies shortly after. - The key to the car Walt steals in the beginning, kept beneath the visor. Walt dies later. Only this time, instead of reaching for the key, he makes it fall into his hand, controlling his fate. Also, in the final shot as the camera moves up, there's a blue strip of floor near Walt, and it could represent a finish line. Whether Walt crossed, or just missed it, is up for us to decide.
@TheBlueDragon866 ай бұрын
Walter did say sorry. He said it by freeing Jesse and the nod at the end. He didn’t go to Jack’s intending to do that, I think he thought he would kill Jesse along with Jack’s gang. It's a reference to the song "El Paso" by Marty Robbins. The song is about a cowboy who falls in love with a woman named Faleena, gets shot by his enemies, and dies in her arms, mirroring the ending where he gets shot by his main enemy (himself) and dies next to his one true love (his meth empire). The song plays in his car on the way back from NH, and he's humming it while building the gun contraption. 3. Fe-Li-Na Iron, Lithium, Sodium. The scene with Walt and Skyler was so satisfying. Walt mostly tells the truth and admits it was all about him. while dropping this huge truth bomb he adds a small lie that he spent all his money getting back to New Mexico so they dont suspect the money from Gretchen and Elliot. This is why Breaking Bad is the greatest show of all time for me. I'm a fantasy man, i like swords and magic. But the acting and writing is SO good in this show and its so consistent from beginning to the end. its hard to find a show that ends and doesnt leave you somewhat disappointed in the show.

Well... Now that you guys are done with _BB,_ there's two things I can finally recommend you guys look up so you won't be spoiled: *1)* _Joking Bad_ from Jimmy Fallon's show. Say what you want about Fallon comedy wise, but that sketch is actually (surprisingly) pretty funny. *2)* "Breaking Bad Mario Kart". Enjoy.

Felina is an anagram for Finale :) Thanks for the great reactions! Can't wait for El Camino and Better Call Saul!

Also, the song "El Paso", which is playing in the car at the beginning, describes a girl named "Feleena". It's all multi layered.

What a great show! My only complaint is how the last arc revolves around Mr Lambert after Walt goes into hiding when we never met him before and he was also played by Bryan Cranston??? What on earth was Vince cooking?
@LavenderPromenade4 ай бұрын
Just want to say that in Fly, Walt says that there must be some combination of words that would make Skyler understand his point of view. In Felina, we finally hear that combination of words. "I did it for me. I liked it. I was good at it. I felt alive."

The teaser for El Camino was just Skinny Pete in the interrogation room telling them they were never gonna find Jesse.

I think the last look between Walt and Jesse was Walt saying “I’m sorry son,you’re free now” and Jesse saying “I know you actually mean it this time” which is why it’s silent,it’s the only way he could tell the truth. I could be way off

Don't grieve the end. The universe is not over. Many watch El Camino and not Better Call Saul. El Camino does provide some closure and gap filling on a specific story line ... But Better Call Saul is so much more as a 6 Season show. So much back story (obviously Saul is around in the first episode but you're going to see a few familiar faces pop up during the first season .. and being introduced to characters with equally strong / comes character arcs as all characters developed in Breaking Bad. And by the start of Season 4 .. you see a full transformation from the early days of Saul into setting up so much of the Breaking Bad universe. And finally it fills in the holes of post Breaking Bad for so much more than the limited gaps closed by El Camino. So no need to be sad until you get to the last few episodes of BCS Season 6 ... You're not even half way through!!

the fact that mythbusters did the car mounted m240b and it worked flawlessly shows how much thinking goes into these shows.

Yeah, but they also proved that the "this is not meth" explosion scene in season 1 was bollocks.

I'm reminded that this is a show from the perspective of Walter White. There are a lot of details that are conveniently left out, or stories that are told certain ways, because they're walter's perspectives though his cope.

Magical for a tv show to leave you wanting more when it ends. Well, until you watch El Camino heh. I thought it was fun to have Kade present. His reactions are very similar to my own. I might not have the same opportunity to watch in the near future, but I loved the journey of watching your reactions. You will remain on my radar for quite some time, I expect. Best wishes with your creation journey.

I don’t know if you guys noticed Walt taking on the traits of the people he killed. After crazy 8 he cuts the crust off his sandwiches, after gus he puts a towel under his knees to throw up and after Mike he changes his drink order to meat instead of with ice plus he uses Mike like threats in this episode

Remember when they were held captive by Tuco and Jesse wanted Walt to be all sacrificial? Well Walt finally did he protected Jesse and sacrificed himself for Jesse.Jesse finally realized that he did care about him.

I think Walt had no intentions to save Jesse when he went to the camp until he saw the condition Jesse was in. But Walt lost his humanity when they made the very first batch of meth. Walt knew what that drug does to it's users and yet he happily made it.

FYI to Eric... other than it not being necessary, the other reason they didn't show Brock at the end is because by the time this was filmed, Brock was 4 or 5 years older than his first scenes and it would show that Brock is much older than in season 3, which was 3 years before season 5B here.

We are blessed that Better call Saul exists because choosing a show to watch or react to after this masterpiece would not be an easy choice otherwise, everything about Breaking Bad is a hard act to followl I do have shows that I personally rank higher but only one or two and even those are matched by Breaking Bad in the quality of everything its just a personal preference due to my age, my demographic and even arbitrary things like when I watched a certain show. Not that anyone will really be interested but for those that are The Wire & Topboy are top of my list.

That was amazing. Now I cannot wait for Better Call Saul after El Camino. The best parts of BB for me, as I think it is for you guys as well, are the character studies, and BCS reeeeally shines in that department, the writing of the characters, the depth, the nuances, everything is even better than in BB (even though you'd think that's almost impossible). It's gonna be such a sick journey.

Walt doest apologize to Jesse , because I think he doesnt even have regrets, he saved him , because he still somewhat cares for him . And he knows, that after this he is not gonna kill his family. But im sure he is still blames Jesse for things
