I think Mike's biggest flaw was that he constantly underestimated Walt. He does it several times throughout the series, and it always bites him. He never took Walt seriously as a threat. I guess what Walter meant by "a better yield" is that because the product is purer, say 96%, than for every kg of product you have 960g of substance, compared to say 700g in less pure product. If the consumers are used to use 70% pure product, you can just take the 96% product and dilute it untill you get 70% purity, then you have 1.37kg of product instead of 1kg.

Coca-Cola is integrated into the script a weird amount if you pay attention. Walt gets Fring to talk to him by asking for a "Diet Coke and a moment of your time," Hank gets Fring's fingerprints by asking for a Coke, in the car wash they hide stacks of cash under Coke cans for the vending machine, Walt hides his gun in the same vending machine, and of course, Coke is a big part of the conversation that starts this episode. Perhaps this is what Vince meant about transforming Walt into Scarface, he's absolutely surrounded by Coke.

Bear with me here. The third time Mike says "Walter" (in S3E4) is strikingly similar to the first time Walt says "Jesse" during his manipulation scene in this episode. It didn't play in this video but they both say it in the same kind of way I feel, probably has no bearing on anything but it's almost like Walt wants to mirror what Mike said, "It's better to have someone watching your back." because now he realizes he doesn't have anyone else left to watch his back. Mike was doing it because he was paid to, Walt is doing it because he HAS to.

I remember watching this live and being so angry with Walt when he shot Mike. Mike's outrage before hand felt so cathartic because it makes so much sense! They had such an amazing operation built up under Gus and I truly believe Walt was mad deep down because he wasn't capable of doing the same thing. He was constantly worrying and stemming some new problem. Walt could NEVER get to the point where Gus was at, where it basically ran itself and had a bulletproof alibi. Basically, he thought simply killing Gus would make him the new Gus (I believe Mike tells him that at one point), and clearly he neglected to think of all the blood, sweat, and tears that went into building up what Gus had, FOR OVER A DECADE! Truly Waltuh's ego is the danger.

It's not like Walt would have gone prison anyway. This case would have been thrown out! The way Hank obtained the information and walks book was illegal. He stole it from Walts house. .Hank "knowingly" or not. He still used Walts money to pay for his rehab. Hank couldn't afford on his salary, so it does seem realistic that he would have known that one with a higher budget would have been paying those bills. Hank would have been charged with aiding and abetting . Use of illegal money And conspiracy. So walt would not have seen a day of jail.

Apparently Meth purity is one of the biggest errors of the series, most meth heads just take more meth if they need a bigger high, they won't pay premium the same way someone who wants to get drunk doesn't pay for Dom Perignon.

5:33 It always kinda bothers me when that female DEA agent doesn’t have her hair up! That should be standard protocol. And I’m always surprised that Mike didn’t immediately know Dan the lawyer flipped based on the way he reacted when Chow called saying the same thing.

1 - Definitely a better title to me. I think everybody wins isn't the greatest title. 2 - This scene is iconic. Better than I am the one who knocks, I think. And is deconstructed by episodes end. 3 - His back being hurt by Golf of all things is weirdly fitting. 4 - god walt is so evil lmao (referring to his manipulation) 5 - Walt doing that stuff in Hank's office gave me super anxiety watching this the first time 6 - Woah, I never caught that Lydia connection 7 - Mikes death pisses me off but it's well done. Rip Waltuh count 8 - (to the tune of that one musical video) WOW woah wo wo woah 9 - I appreciate the effort put into split second visual gags like the worker bees 10 - Walt's sped up walk was unintentionally funny 11 - Great final shot for the episode. Devastating 12 - I'm so glad Mike appears in Better Call Saul and we get more of him and the actor. Especially an appearance in the series finale was super deserved for the legendary character that initially wasn't even meant to be a character. Another reason why this show is legendary, all of its best parts couldn't have been planned from the beginning. A seed that got to grow in unexpected ways Great video! I hope to show up sooner to the last batch of episodes

1. I think it better represents the entire plot, but those tend to be less memorable and therefore worse (like Bug, which could have been called Sniper Fire or something). Titles that make you think of the iconic scene work best, IMHO! 2. Agreed! 5. Yeah! 6. I hadn't either until people mentioned it after that episode! Gut-wrenching! 7. 💯 (Although the counter will be back for one more in Better Call Saul! 😆) 9. I'm so glad! I definitely spent way too much time on that! 10. It was intentional for me! It reminds me of early Walt. 12. Absolutely. And such a great lesson for writers / show runners, I think! Thanks again!!!

Have you ever noticed how at the very beginning of bb when Walt is explaining change in his chemistry class he changes the flames in two three colors (pinkish read, green, and blue. I think that this was foreshadowing as when Walt really starts to break bad especially in seasons 3-5 he wears these colors. This is evidenced by Walt’s punk sweater in the plane crash episode. Then Walt’s green shirt in the episode where Gus dies. Then you can see here in this episode and others from season 5 that Walt is wearing blue.

That’s a really interesting theory! 🤯

I always thought Mike was wrong about that whole speech with Walter, given that back with Gus, he choose to save Jesse, and had Walter 'known his place' Jesse would be dead. After that point it was practically clear Gus wanted Walter dead, so his actions were sort of understandable.
@souptikchakraborty.yt.202413 күн бұрын
Exactly. I agree with you 100%. Finally a breaking bad fan, who *actually* paid attention to the story, instead of just blaming Walt's ego for everything
@betterwatchtv13 күн бұрын
Very true! And I almost mentioned the whole "Jesse would be dead" thing but I felt like I was talking for too long. 😆 It's also complicated since Mike was basically advocating for Jesse's death back then!
@Leonard_Wolf_205610 күн бұрын
Mike making that point always made me feel like season 5 is set in an altrenate universe. Either that or Mike is just a sociopath.
