Walter shows the last slivers of humanity here. He tried to make Jesses death as painless as possible witch is probably as good as you can do for someone you are going to have killed. The real deal is willing to give upp everything he has worked for because he didn't want to kill Hank. Everyone he has hurt and killed and all the illegal stuff would now be for nothing and his family would still be ruined as Hanks career is probably over and Skylar and Jr and Holly will at minimum always live with the taint of Heisenberg even if they are his victims this is what they will be known for. The cruelest part of that cliffhanger is that you know that without some bs writing Hank and Gomez probably arent going to live and we know that they don't do bs writing. The home stretch is here and it aint gonna slow down.

I think on one hand, Jack and his guys are intelligent and capable. At the same time, they don't probably put the great amount of forethought into urgent situation thinking sometimes, either. In any case, re: shooting where Walt is in the car... I suspect that upon the unexpected DEA appearance shoot-out, not only would Jack and his guys not have the information about WTF is happening, but also wouldn't know 100% for sure if they could trust Walt at this point, either. In any case, I think we just saw self-perseverance take hold in Jack and his guys, who are 100% on board with each other, seeing a risk of capture, and knowing they are armed to the teeth for war, they decided to just go all out, as they tend to do. I agree though, with all things considered, it is in their best interest to try to make sure Walt is safe.
