He gave the legacy of Kpop in the hands of BTS. Basically, he given the control in the hands of BTS because he said they are future of Kpop. He only trusted BTS for his created legacy of Kpop. Because both have same genre in their blood Hip Hop. Years later he collaborated with them in his concert. And from then BTS domination era started now it's impossible to anybody to touch BTS.

as a woman, gender has nothing to do with the "paved the way" conversation. those fans of bts (that ultimately are the reason bts paved the way) didn't just trickle down to kpop boy groups, they also trickled down to kpop girl groups. that's all i feel like i really need to say on that. and when blackpink debuted, bts were already paving the way and exploding on the internet with songs like dope and blood, sweat and tears. along with the fact blackpink is part of one of the big 3 kpop labels (yg).

There is a series made by ARMY called Rise of Bangtan. In this well made series it explains the origins of K-pop in a non-biased way that you’ll understand. For your question about how it started, I suggest reacting to this series. As it goes on, the main focus is BTS, however there is so much to learn about the industry of K-pop that Westerners don’t understand. 💜 Edit: Each episode also has extras such as Deleted scenes and Bonus content. :)

Kpop is super competitive, and since BTS are still active many kpop fans view them as direct competition so of course some won't like to mention them. Fans of previous generations do feel like praising BTS erases achievments of 2d generation groups, and I don't think it will ever go away.

BTS is popular because they take the time to create meaningful music; lyrics, music & dancing. They also take time to appreciate their fans in ways no other group has before, they've really connected with their fans. There is so much that goes into why BTS is popular, it's absolutely not something that can be replicated over night, it's a very personal level for BTS & ARMY. BTS are big contributors to their music; writing, composing, singing, concepts, dancing. Everyone of BTS members does everything, they are not experts at everything, but they work very hard, help each other to learn all aspects of the music. I have not seen any group like BTS, east or west, they are truly unique and special. They are legends already, as a group and well on their way as individual artists. They are compared to the likes of the Beattles, Michael Jackson, Elvis Presley and these are big names, these are group/artists that have actually done something big in the western music industry and BTS is at the level. The groups that don't like hearing this or seeing this are groups that try to say they paved the way, very jealous fandoms. I've come across a lot of fandom interactions and there's a lot of hostility, but if you see what they're saying, they're just babbling a bunch of stuff that their group did (after BTS) has already accomplished, go on about the most streams, etc, but no real impact, because BTS has already made that impact. BTS was forced to find their own way because the K Pop industry did everything they could to keep them down, but now that BTS is so big, the industry now claims them as K Pop. I admire BTs & ARMY, both are always battling negativity, battling the east and west music industry, just for fair representation. Enjoyed your reaction. Thank you for sharing.

I love what you said about how scary and hard it must be for Bts to be in an unknown territory. At that time, RM was the only one who speaks English (The others understand a little but not as much as RM). Tho not perfect, he could understand what they were saying. And there were a lot of other videos out there where reporters and paparazis were talking crap in their face thinking they couldn't understand it. RM could. Which reminds me of a time years ago, when they were teens and one of the members asked RM to translate one of the messages they received from a fan, not knowing that the message wasn't really from a fan. It was from a hater and the message was saying some hateful stuff to them. RM lied to them (they were young at the time), he said the message said good things but in reality, it was hateful words. The responsibility RM had must've been extremely heavy considering he was the leader and the ones who has to translate and a spokesperson for the team.

BTS Paved the way! 💜That is not just a phrase that army invented but facts. At first we use it to celebrate their achievements but then some kpop fandoms started taking it in some way as something bad without even knowing the real meaning of paving the way and then started to use it with their own favs to discredit BTS(?) We use the paved the way because we are proud of them not to say they nvented kpop or to say other groups don't work hard. There's millions of proves that shows how BTS paved the way so we don't really worry about it lol. There's a lot of idols from every generation also mentioning how BTS opened the doors for kpop in the global marketso... The only ones who deny it are jealous fans, haters and idols who are pushed to be the next BTS a lot. Their companies always make things worst with the amount of media play and of course never forgetting to use BTS' name 🙄🙄

Like a group or singer when is good is always compared with this icons, so in kpop all good kpop groups will be compared to bts( and they should be Grateful for that! It's a sign that they are great) ... Like bts is so many times compared to Beatles... It's an honor to be compared to them or to MJ for example

As you requested a song that talks about their artistic influences you can react to their song "Hip Hop Phile"! They also did the song "Born Singer" (react to a live performance) in which they talk about their attitude as they just debuted as artists and it's over the instrumental of J Cole's track "Born Sinner"... These 2 songs are a good starting point! Now to elaborate more... RM's biggest influence is Nas, J-hope it's J Cole and SUGA would be Eminem, Kendrick but they really have their own identity... J-hope also recently collabed with J cole on the song "on the street" which is a tribute to his journey so far and he lets J cole take a large part of the song to show his respect (his name was also influenced by cole and he started as an underground dancer and used to dance to cole a lot). J-Hope also sampled Ol'Dirty Bastard and a 2000s Harlem song from Young B Chicken Noodle Soup... he also prepares a documentary on hip hop and street dance that should come out next year on Disney +... RM collabed with Wale, and on his more recent album with Erykah Badu, Anderson .Paak and Tablo (rapper from the group Epik High who was a huge inspiration to him when he was amateur)... SUGA has a collab with Juice Wrld (if you listen to his song Amygdala you can definitely hear the influence), also Ryuichi Sakamoto a Japanese musician who inspired him a lot as a producer I could go on forever but as you continue this BTS journey you'll get to hear about their inspiration and for me that's what really sets them apart, they continuously pay homage and include orginators and players of the culture into their works! Even the singers of BTS non-rappers really appreciate and understand with Jimin featuring on a song with NLE Choppa/ Kodak Black, Jungkook with Latto, V doing a lot of jazz covers and mostly listens and shares Etta James and other deep cuts soul/rnb tracks and rap... There's real knowledge, appreciation and respect for the culture that I didn't necessarily find in the rest of K-pop

I really enjoyed your video. BTS’ first discrimination came from their own people in Korea. Because they came from a unknown label and not the Big 3 label company they were looked down on from the very beginning. I’m telling you the knetizens were and are brutal and vicious. I speak as a Korean American who was born and raised in Korea the first 10 years of my life. BTS has raised the bar on so many levels that I really doubt that anyone can even catch up close. Sure other groups are very talented but to get to the level of BTS or even higher I really don’t think any group or individual has that amount of talent not only in performance but in skills, creativity, determination, commitment, a balance within a team and as individuals, no egos and selfishness, smart business minded, commitment to making making good music and not what would make a song popular, and so much more. Their sincerity and love for army fandom is unequal. Sorry but it was very bad of Blackpink to say what they said. Some people tried to defend Blackpink’s comment and said that they were probably forced to say it by their label but I don’t buy it because that means it means they are just puppets and not artists. As a matter of fact they are not artists but performers as they have never been involved in creating their music. I agree with Boracity Magazine that it’s pure jealousy stemming from recognizing their talent and artistry but not wanting “nobodies from unknown label” to be better than their faves who canes from the Big 3. It’s Korea’s history of thousands of years of looking down on the less fortunate people and considering them as animals rather than humans. I know it’s harsh but it’s the truth.

What I like about Bts, is that despite all this success and popularity, they stayed humble and down to earth. Their heads didn't get big. The question you asked about how they feel about all this success and being people's inspiration, well Bts members did say they are proud. But at the same time, the pressure is immense. They whole world is looking at them. Whether it'd be positively or negatively. One wrong move from them, one small mistake would be a huge downfall. It will be a huge topic. The thought of it is scary.

I love the section about how BTS actually researches and credits a major K-Pop influence- black artists. That is important because black people experience discrimination worldwide, and definitely in S. Korea, despite idols and other Korean entertainers making money off of black art. Look at BTS’ million dollar donation to Black Lives Matter, etc. The unique overt influence of 90s hip hop in BTS’ early music (RM fought the label for this) was a reason why people, including the American general public like me, started to take BTS seriously when they started to blow up on social media around 2016. It may not be quite as true for all younger fans, but Gen X and some Millenials like me respect that legit influence behind BTS’ rap. Many K-Pop rappers don’t even write their own bars, let alone understand much about hip hop other than “swag.” In turn, BTS’ diverse fan base including older ARMYs is a reason for their longevity. Older fans spend money, are less likely to chase trends, and open up additional demographics.

DKDKTV KZbin channel has a video on the history of K-pop
@TheTwil1

This. This video. This is why BTS and army are still being attacked, jealousy. They were shut out in the beginning which made BTS improvise. Now that their talent and effort paid off, ppl are hating on them and want what BTS without the work. The K-pop fandoms even banded together and tried to “officially “ kick” ARMY out of ..K-pop fandoms (🤣). First ARMY was never a part of K-pop. They hate it. But the MEMES that ARMY created that day are LEGENDARY. ARMY and kpoop do NOT get along, so when we hear BTS lumped in With the rest of kpop, it pisses us off.💜

It is old video but I think the video "KPOP History in 20 min" by dkdktv will help you get a brief summary of Kpop history.

DKDKTV has a short vid which may not be quiet on up to today but is still going up to 4th gen.: "Kpop history in 20 minutes" bby gang mag also has done some thing but more in the direction of what K-pop is: "BTS vs. K-pop". He has some more video essays but I don't quiet recall about history... "you are wrong about K-pop" is for example also good as is "BTS: More than K-pop" or his BTS paved the way vid (he points out for example BTS success in India and other countries) (I have to rewatch some of his stuff) The third song in the top10 chart was a B-side so that may have made a difference globally. I don't think any K-pop acts will reach BTS level. Don't take me wrong: some of them are very involved in their music, work hard, have good backing and a growing/good fandom (well most of it) but... BTS are one of the Once-In-A-Lifetime acts like MJ or the Beatles etc. They have their own section in the Guiness Book of World Records, World Leaders are impressed by them, they create ca. 0,5% (5 Billion USD) of SK's GDP. They are a soft power all on their own. They are the only artist that are on "The Legacy Lab Releases the Inaugural Legacy Makers 100 - A New Measure of Brand Value Based on Long-Term Contributions to People and Society, not Short-Term Market Value"-List (82). Not that they don't have also Brand Power like they are pretty much all signed to big Fashion labels because they sell out stuff that is unusual for those big names. If you google Rapline the pictures are BTS; if you google BTS click the purple heart etc. They exist in the Marvel Universe and DC. They are Mainstream in an unusual way. Dynamite's No. 1 on the HOT100 alone was projected to create 8000 jobs and create over 1 Billion USD for the GDP. BTS was in 2021 the bestselling artist (not K-pop artist: Artist) in Japan. But according to the IFPI they were the biggest artist in the world in 2020, 2021 and second biggest in 2022 (Taylor Swift managing to snag the No. 1 spot - and - not to be mean - she and her label do every trick that is allowed to get there and some are very unusual so I admire her how she conquered the System from within). "The Rise of Bangtan"-series actually has a lot of context. It's our best documentary till now. It's complicated. Mind you she is a little wrong about the friends in the Industry. BTS hasn't been on the variety shows, weekly K-pop shows and even big Award Shows for years (also Covid) so we have less to no interaction on camera but a few far in-between photos. Mind you Jin and Suga are introverts to begin with. The rapline has mostly Hiphop artists as friends and a few Idols that are both. V has Wooga Squad but I think they are actors mostly. Jimin has friends among the dancers of the Big 3 like Taemin and Kai but is also friends with Ha Sungwoon. JK is friends with the 97 liners. There are also connections to other artists under Big Hit/HYBE like Zico or Lee Hyun/Midnatt. I bet that all the TXT members have at least one BTS member in their phonelist even if here they are more the helpful seniors. You nice! Keep going!

This is a great video for BTS. I love how they talk about the impact BTS has on the entire world. I want everyone to enjoy k-pop in general and BTS was at the forefront to help push it over more in an extreme way that the first 2 generations couldn't do. But don't discount those before BTS because there were some that helped build that road before BTS. Here is another video by Johnathan Miller Music who has many videos on k-pop or any music and he is very informative about the music industry for western and k-pop. Johathan, also did a video for a more deep dive in the Rise of Stray Kids kzbin.info/www/bejne/hoqQiH2mat9psMU. What I love about this video it isn't just about stray kids. Its also about JYP and he also talks a little about more about k-pop industry and the start before stray kids and how they are helping keep k-pop alive world wide that others have paved before them like G-Dragon, Big Bang, Rain and BTS. They aren't competing against them or BTS but helping in the goal of k-pop to be global around the world. He also has one on BTS and how they have had a Global impact world wide a more in depth version of BTS the video is 2 years old though its still good. Here is that link: kzbin.info/www/bejne/d165qHWPf7R4mLs I love Johnathon's videos here is another one about k-pop from 2 years ago: kzbin.info/www/bejne/apPQeqmnjL6Aq6c

Obviously according to your channel you're just a multi (more stay and VIP than ARMY) , and that Jonathan is anything espacially an opportunist except an expert... You're just inserting your favs who by the way are not keeping anything alive .. BTS were before them and they're still here above them.. So just stop your hypocrisy.

If you live in certain countries, you cannot say things which the rulers find compromising. If you work for one of the Big 3 Korean Music Corporations, you also are limited in saying things which may contradict or challenge the company line. Having Rain, Psy or Bang Chan speak their mind in a way that credits BTS is not surprising. To hear similar thoughts from active Big 3 Idol group members might be seen as going against the company line.

I'm a ARMY and I agree with Bora but, honestly, i totally agree with you on the Blackpink part.. Because of these stupid fanwars people are getting blind and not seeing the obvious. BTS paved the way? OBVIOUSLY. But you can't say that Blackpink aren't doing for the woman's side of things, because they have to face not only the racism, xenophobia but they have to deal with machism too... not seeing that is just fandons bullshit

I'm really not sad to say this but c eventually ' nothing gonna happen to kpop artists. Shes right lol. With the biggest fandom ever, music industry is sabotaging BTS so much,by also being shady. How do you think k-pop gonna 'eventually' do anything? Mark my word, except for reactors on yt, nothing extraordinary is coming to kpop groups. Most of them are privileged and still using high payola. Even with that, they still can't surpass BTS. So no. The eventually is never gonna happen. I don't kpop. True. But I'm not bitter about them cuz I am not a music fan myself so I give zero fcks abt them But I'm very much aware of what game is going on in these industries n groups.

I don't like k-pop*! *** P.s yes in k-pop scene, obviously there are going to be groups who might one day be on top. That's inevitable. Màybe some might achieve a few things in westen industry but that industry is full of racism. Like I said, they r sabotaging BTS happily even with the biggest strongest fandom ever. K-pop groups are not going to achieve anything as BTS' level, let alone surpass them. BTS is way bigger than you are thinking. There are now at the same level as MJ, the Beatles. You're about to learn.

video titled every artist under HYBE labels. pre view the very first of the video before you start your reaction. there should be a short countdown sequence text should read every artist under HYBE labels in alphabetical order. very first artist should be US country artist Aaron Lewis. if so, you have the right video. you can back the video up to the beginning and start your reaction.
