Michigan fans or trolls need a reminder that Matthew Judon went to Grand Valley State and is one of the better DE in the NFL for the past 10 years. Some guys develop later than others and aren’t always 5 star athletes out of college. I’ve never seen this guy play but an all-American at any level definitely has a bit of ability to play.

Everyone is whiny, cynical, and negative. “Georgia got a 5 star…A&M is dropping bags and Michigan won’t pay…bargain bin shopping…etc.” Like Michigan hasn’t sent transfers from horrible programs like Virginia and UMass to the pros after developing them into integral pieces of our championship run. Locker room fit, cohesion with position group, risk to benefit ratio of eligibility remaining/cost/long term outlook, and prioritization all factor into how hard they pursue players and who may or may not transfer. You guys see stars and program names and freak out instead of trusting coaches who are exponentially more adept at doing this than you are. It’s hilarious

Those 16 FCS transfers from James Madison had a great year at Indiana. I'm sure Hattar will make the step up in competition and excel for U-M. Programs that can find good players in unusual places will have a big advantage in the NIL/transfer era.

Ok that helps. Lock in Sprague at RT. Then you got Crippen and El Hadi at RG & C. I like the competition at LG with Hattar, Link, Norton, Efobi. Persi would be the 3rd tackle. Frazier/Babalola would be the 4th tackle. Can they earmark some cash for the spring portal to nab a LT?

Admissions and bargain shopping is making this transfer portal...interesting. It feels like UM staff is treating this more like an extension of recruiting rather than FA. The tape and measurables reminds me a lot of Trevor Keegan.

@bmonty191517 күн бұрын
@@natemogg1511 That's kind of what I am getting out of it too. Teams are paying insane amounts of money for players. If that is the going price for players out of the portal, you may as well pay for the best recruits, who are probably better anyways, and grow them in your system.
@calebspencer345117 күн бұрын
Bargain shopping is just what non-ball knowers say when the program is being selective about who they pay. They’re going after PRODUCTIVE players at lower levels rather than burn out ex 5 stars from P4 programs. It’s been successful for other programs and it’s worked for us so far.
@rosshixon679617 күн бұрын
@calebspencer3451 yeah except they ARE going after all those big names. They're just missing on em.
@jinorimo609017 күн бұрын
@@rosshixon6796 meh, they only aggressively pursued 3-4 of the top-50 on the industry composite. They got 1 of them. They are being extremely selective, which I disagree with. They badly needed to add a total of 5 stars this offseason. They have 1.5.

I attended SVSC in the early 80's and was friends with Eugene Marve. He had a decent NFL career, mainly with Tampa Bay. The Lions took a chance with Trevor Nowaske from SVSC. There are some dogs in the smaller colleges that need that little window of opportunity. Go Blue....keep digging.

You really have to admire a guy who has that much drive while playing DII. I don't mean to minimize the game for DII but there aren't usually a lot of eyeballs on those games. There is nothing but "for the love of the game" to motivate. Imagine the exhilaration he's going to feel suiting up for the first times in the maize and blue. What will he do with that boost? It'll be fun to watch. I am feeling really good about this team. Is it crazy to think Michigan may be in the top 5 for odds to win the natty?

I think Gio and Crippen ended up being the 2nd and 3rd best lineman behind Hinton last year imo. The two spots that absolutely killed us last year were LG, Priebe, and RT Evan Link. Priebe was way over hyped as far as I am concerned and I am not convinced the staff didn't mess up not giving Raheem Anderson a shot to play guard. Gio struggled a lot early on as well but he really turned it around by the end of the year.

Sprague is too light to play guard and you probably want your best OL to play his regular spot @ tackle. Link is not athletic enough too play OT and probably best @ OG if he is strong enough to deal with DTs. As of now: Babalola - Hatttar - Crippin - El Hadi - Sprague No job is safe outside of Sprague. Hopefully Norton moves to center, I believe that may be his NFL position, he could be elite there.
