My big fancy theory: Solution 9 is an attempt from a technologically advanced reflection to make it to the Source. Maybe even it's a reflection that was successfully Rejoined. All the Final Fantasy IX references make me think that the "solution" was for the population's souls and minds to be transferred to the Source and maybe even merge somehow with the people of the Source a la Gaia and Terra from IX. Presumably the 8 other solutions to avoid the calamity failed and this is the only remnant but who knows?

My best bet is it’s the remnants from the 12th shard. The one that was destroyed by a calamity of lightning aether. That would explain why during tokyo fanfest they pointed out that Heritage Found has a high amount of lighting aether in the area. Maybe they brought a ton of it with them when they travelled to the source?

I'm saying that, much like how Ardbert and co. had time before the wave of light completely destroyed the First to work with Elidibus, maybe this reflection's people tried a few different methods to survive. One of those being Solution 9. Unless I'm misunderstanding your point.

The term for "cyberpunk paradise" is cyberprep. Which is a offshoot genre, less know as it's a less explored space, but it does exist. Just wanted to share. 🤓

So, there has been a lot of references to FF IX in the lead up to Dawntrail. The new continent, being this mysterious continent which we know little about, fits how in IX the Mist Continent couldn't explore the rest of the world, and each continent was unknown outside of myths and stories. Next we have the style of the new first main city, not Solution IX, Tuliyollal, which fits a lot of the aesthetics of the dwarf town we arrived from the myst continent. Then we have the classes Viper and Pictomancer, and here is where it gets interesting. While Viper is basically both weapon of the main character of IX Zidane (And don't think i didn't notice that blond girl in the art wearing Zidane like clothes), the daggers and the thiefs sword, which the thief usually look like what happens if you join 2 daggers from the hilt together in a dual-bladed sword, which in Dissidia is what Zidane does, he has 2 daggers/swords which he combines for certain moves into a dual-bladed sword. Viper also have a mode where it releases a lot of energy doing powerful and fast attack, kind of like Zidanes Trance, without physically changing the character. Pictomancer on the other hand is a full reference to FF VI right?... *WRONG,* which creature can you sketch, a Moogle and... Madeen, the summon that Eiko obtains when her friend Moggle Mog, enters in a Trance to release her true power in the form of her true identity the summon Madeen... Then we have Solution IX, the city name after one of Zidane's attacks... a futuristic city, which if we take the implication of the trailers, there is something down below Tural... And we never see the light of day in Solution IX, kind of like Terra in FFIX which was the world of another alien species to Gaia, who to make Gaia their home were pushing the souls of the habitance of Gaia out of their lifestream and pushing their souls, the souls of the people of Terra into that cycle... And they have done it many time before... I don't think this will be done, as it's similar to what the Ascian were trying to do, and that's part of a reference among all the small ones on Shadowbringers to FF IX, but the part of the alien race invading from inside... It could be possible, and that the Kingdom of Tural is part of them... Or it could be the opposite one of the reflections trying to do that, seeing as the Miqo'te will be rename for that kingdom *AGAIN.* Heck one of the continents of IX didn't belong to Gaia, it was one of the continents of Terra, and part of the failure of the system they design to consume Gaia, because Gaia was younger planet then Terra. All of this are implications, i notice and food for through, not so much, my prediction as i don't think we have enough to say other then, i don't think this competition will take place in Solution IX, but Solution IX will be part of the plot in a different way to explain motives of someone involve on it.

I can't help but notice how that big crystal in the center seems to be a combination of both light and dark pieces. That was a big plot point leading up to this point as far as balancing the light and the dark in the 2 other shards we have visited.

"Solution 9". What was Shadowbringers? Preventing the Eighth Umbral Calamity. I think Solution 9 might have been part of a catalyst for the Ninth Umbral Calamity that never got triggered. Which means it might be connected to one of the reflections that we haven't seen yet.

Honestly, I think its the reverse. The place has apparently been there for a long time. The town being built underneath it with steam engines is called "Heritage". A name that implies a lot. If I had to guess, especially with the absurd Lightning themes of it, Solution 9 is what remains of the 1st Astral Era Civilization that caused the 2nd Umbral Calamity of Lightning. This would also explain why the Northern Continent it seems to be under, seems to so barren. As similar to Zadnor in Bozja there is an extreme Etheric Imbalance polluting the land. Zadnor being polluted by the 4th Umbral Calamities Earth aspected Aether saturation, the Northern New World is polluted by Lightning Aspected Aether. This would also explain why we see Ancient Script within Solution 9. Because as a civilization it would have developed during a time where the ruins of the Ancient World was only one Calamity deep.

@@cardbutton892 That's possible, too. It could be that the name is actually carried over from the time of the ancients, and Solution 9 itself may have been a testing site for one of their proposed solutions to the Final Days before they ended up with the choice they eventually made.

This sounds really cool! Though wouldn't Garlemald be called Solution 7 or Allag Solution 3 or 4 (forgot which era it was). It'd be weird for them not to have a specific name for their "9th solution". Though who knows, maybe the Ascians still called them solutions internally and we're about to learn that.

my theory is that solution 9 for sure has smth to do with one of the other reflections. whether it straight up is a civilization on another reflection or its a civilization created by refugees who had to flee their reflection to the source during one of the rejoinings. if it is a civilization in another reflection we travel to, a couple of the pictures of heritage found make it look like it could be a landing of sorts. the big metal structure in heritage found could very well be some form of teleporter (similar to what the CT was for us to travel from the source to the first) that allows people to travel to and from the reflection. to my knowledge the 4th, 8th, 9th and the 11th are still safe, so it could be one of those (9th would make the most sense for obvious reasons). The 12th was rejoined with lightning aspected aether so if it is a refugee civilization i see it most likely being the 12th bc it was mentioned that solution 9 is overflowing with “levin”. if it’s on the source my best guess is it’s smth the people of the ninth shard created in case of a rejoining, but since that obviously isn’t happening, it’s become some form of vacation/entertainment district. the big metal structure in heritage found could be an elevator that takes you down into solution 9 (like the elevator to labyrinthos).

It's interesting to see Au Ra here. Considering everything we know about them up until this point is that they originate from Othard. This is quite far afield to find them. Worth a mention that a xaela tribe has a myth about sailing far east (from Othard) and encountering a nation of machines. Could be Solution 9. However, those were xaela and we see a raen on the balcony.

I think this is going to be the group moon exploration content. The radio is a nod to it, imho. If you do the beast tribe quests you will see this tech and the reason I think the radio matters. There are multiple races and technologies involved in the beast tribes that could explain the cyber punk look.

I really hope if this isn't the 'main' city of Dawntrail and instead is more like what Radz-at-han is in EW that they put a Marketboard and an inn in the city because Solution 9 is for sure going to be my new AFK/Hangout spot. It really irritated me that all the endgame content is in Radz in EW but Radz didn't have a MB or Inn - despite them having a fully modelled Inn for Radz that they used in MSQ post for awesome edgy hat lady (not using her real name for spoiler reasons)

Man the Japanese really have a gift for video game art - from the stories to the visuals, world design and especially the Music. They just have a culture in their art that is so subtly unique and breath taking to the point where even the best Western video game music/art is inspired by Japanese design especially JRPGs. It's genuinely like Japan is living in an alternate paradise universe where investor/publisher greed hasn't corrupted and stolen the life from games and media.

​​​@@Rennat9002 Eorzea isn't the entire world. It's just part of the continent of Aldenard and it's surrounding islands (Limsa). Eorzea just refers to the land the city states of ARR live in, from Limsa in the West to Ala'Mhigo in the East. So with that established, we already know that Solution 9 isn't in Eorzea because it's in the New World, where Dawntrail takes place. The New World is a continent far to the West across the ocean from Aldenard. Just picture Aldenard as Europe, Ilsabard as the Middle East, Othard as Asia, the New World as North America and Meracydia as Australia.

I think the Artwork depicte the inside of the building we see in the preview video, you can see a bit of the inside and it does seems to be it, tho it's not as good looking or full of lights and elements as the Art. Classic artwork bait 😅

It's a Sci Fi futuristic paradise, there is no such thing as a cyberpunk paradisse. Cyberpunk is inherently a dystopia, social degradation, crime run amok, economic degradation, low life high tech, etc. Why are people calling this Cyberpunk? It's not showcasing a dystopia. People need to realise cyberpunk is a very specific thing. It's not neon, 80s vibe, synth, etc, that's just an aesthetic Bladerunner used, it is what I stated above, these are just skin deep observations, all those dystopian factors need to be present, Night City in Cyberpunk 2077 is a cyberpunk dystopia or Neo Tokyo from Akira.

If cyberpunk is inherently dystopic, then the phrase "cyberpunk dystopia" wouldn't be a thing cus the second word would be unnecessary. Cyberpunk on its own is an aesthetic. It just happens that most stories told with it are dystopic, likely cus its a lot easier to think of ways body mods and intrusive technology can go wrong than ways they can go right.

This is one of the things I hate the most about final fantasy titles. You have these guys fighting with planks for shields and bronze swords against cyberpunk ultra futuristic alien technology enemies. Kinda mess the whole aesthetic for me. Saying it's fantasy it's not an excuse for internal lack of consistency. It's like playing those god awful korean mmos where everything is medieval and then you see someone dressed up as a schoolgirl or playboy bunny.
