I realized pretty quickly.that this is how.EDM djs.succeed... which just reinforced my belief that hip.hop.djs.are still king!!!... mix radio edits is way more impressive... i have tons of DJ edit mainstream music and it makes EDM style mixing easy for popular music... but its not impressive like quick urban mixing goes... but I tried it with EDM and I.quickly.learned how to sound like a DJ GOD... but it would only work with EDM crowds... basically Marshmello and the like learned how to capitalize on DJ respect while mixing the easiest possible tracks to mix... i appreciate what I learned from edm style mixing as a beginner... but they are not impressive... they are overpaid button pushers...unfortunately... the lights and big production really help them out from being exposed... with that said. I respect Marshmello for being able to be a regular dude...gain optional fame and wealth... and be highly respected yet still not recognizable in public...i would envy the dude if I had that emotion downloaded.

Great video once again - have learned massive amounts from you! Thank you! One question I have, when you are doing demos then you are showing how to set things up in Rekordbox. The issue I am having is then moving into a club and not knowing if things are going to work on CDJs in the same way. Most club setups don't have Hot Cues (so I setup hot cues and memory cues). But with the effects... is there any point in setting them up, I imagine that you would need pioneer mixers in the club (that are modern) for it to work. Thoughts?
@djcarlo2 жыл бұрын
Mostly yes Bart. You'd need Pioneer gear there, but most clubs do use Pioneer mixers. Most of them, however, do have the basic effects, like echo, roll, etc, so you don't need to overthink the effects set up in Rekordbox, unless you use some of the less-common ones. Only the entry level mixers (Pioneer or not) lack effects outputs from what I recall.

Hmmm if you're getting paid millions of dollars to do a set, and have a light show synced with it...it's time to consider pre recorded sets?

While I agree that there's a lot on the line, a pre recorded set is like going to an Aerosmith concert and they just push play on the cd player and dance around on stage. Pre-planned sets are perfectly okay. If you're getting paid millions of dollars for a set you should be able to execute it just fine.
