You could try to buy new york strip steaks instead. They tend to be a bit cheaper, but still good quality. Some people also prefer them over ribeyes. Hi Alex - the reason the cheap steaks typically don’t taste as good is because they are from the animal’s muscles of locomotion, not support, which makes them tougher. Using a moist cooking method or injecting them with pineapple juice will allow some of the connective tissue to break down, causing the meat to become tender.

Buy yourself a chuck roast and sear both sides and put it in the oven at 325 ,covered, with some butter, salt, pepper and about a cup of water. Make sure it's covered and cook it for about 2.5 hours ( keep checking it until it's very tender and is easy to break apart) There's a really good video about it on carnivore quest channel called Cassie's famous pot roast. I make that quite often. So damn yummy. Youll love it just as much as the steak and it's cheaper and you will have leftovers.

If you buy those large beef roasts you can slice it into "steaks" and see if you like that - or just cook the roast in the oven and have tender roast beef for many meals, maybe you'll like that taste too since tender roasted beef has that same fatty umami flavor. Another alternative is to buy as many rib eyes as you want, but just make the other food you eat at home super cheap. Mashed potatoes, seasoned rice, box pasta, etc to eat in between your rib eyes. ❤ I don't think you should stop eating this one thing you've found you love and is helping you become healthier, I'd try to make stuff work around the cost of the rib eye.

They're not big, but they're like 6$ a piece and amazingly marbled, as well as flavorful. It's also super easy to bulk up the meal cheaply with mashed potatoes. I second roasts, too. I usually love heavy spices, but the broth made from slow-cooking the meat makes the most amazing simple base. I also just love how you were so resistant to home-cooking in the beginning and now enjoy it so much, I was the same! The videos that have come from it are absolutely hilarious

Over $1000 for food for 1 person for 1 month. Oof. I live alone and spend $300-400 per month on all food and beverage. I work construction and weigh 200lbs. I eat plenty of beef, chicken, pork, vegetables, eggs, potatoes, dairy and some junk food. Eating out is expensive, including fast food. I eat out 2-3 times per month and brew all my coffee at home. I quit energy drinks because they got too expensive. Brewing a pot of good coffee at home costs 50-75 cents. This video shows very well how fast it can add up when you dont cook at home. slow-cooking roasts is a great way to eat beef and pork without feeling like you're eating cheap. Potatoes, pasta and rice are cheap, versatile, and high in calories. Sometimes, a simple box of mac n cheese with pieces of summer sausage or hot dog hits the spot and only sets you back $2-3. Some vegetables are just as good and healthy frozen as they are fresh. That stuff adds up in savings, which allows for more steaks and ribs without breaking the bank.

I have a strong love for ribeye; it's my preferred cut of meat. Although it can be a bit pricey, I believe it's worth it because steak is one of those dishes that never fails to please me. I recommend trying the sous vide method for cooking steak. It's a simpler way to achieve your desired level of doneness, but you will need a torch to sear it afterward. Filming the process of searing a steak with a torch could be good content. 😬

I'd try NY Strip Steak instead of ribeye. If you freeze and thaw steaks properly (and then learn how to dry age at home...) there's no loss of quality, so if you can learn how to do that, bulk packs (at a lower price per pound) will help A LOT. Ribeye is more fatty that NY Strip, so, to make the strip steak feel juicier maybe you could venture into learning how to make a pan sauce? A very basic (so basic that it's not really a sauce) sauce is: put a little bit of water in your frying pan after you take the steak out and put it back on high heat. You want JUST enough water to loosen everything stuck to the bottom of the pan. Not more than 1/4 cup, definitely. When it boils, wait for a minute or two until about half of the water evaporates. Take it off the heat and add a couple tablespoons of butter to the pan and mix it with the pan drippings+water mix. WHen it's all together and looking like a sauce, pour it over the steak. Yeah, it's basically butter mixed with meat juice and seasoning, but is any of that going to taste bad? No. And it's flavor that was going to waste in the pan and is now there, making you like less expensive steak.

I can understand not being excited about leftovers. I am not a leftover person myself. But you will have to learn how to adjust your recipes down to just one serving in order to do that. You had already cut the mac n cheese recipe in half, but you probably needed to cut it in half again in order to have 1-2 serving. Had you just made one serving, you would have not used all your macaroni or all your cheese for one recipe, you would have had some left to make it again in the future or make something else. Of course making it in small servings means you have to take the time to make it. So you need to decide if your time making it is more valuable than the portion sizes. That mac n cheese should have been like four meals and would kept in the fridge for several days or the freeze for months. But it is good that you are noticing that the fast food isn't the best quality of ingredients and that you feel healthier.

You'll get better quality meat for likely a lower price and there are far more cuts that you can try for significantly cheaper, there's a bunch of channels dedicated to saving people money on meat, check some out and save yourself money while also directly supporting the people actually cutting the meat instead of large chains hiding bruises behind stickers. You should also really try meal prepping, if it only takes a few mins in the microwave then you're more likely to eat that instead of ordering out cause you don't want to cook a meal for 1-2 hours.
