@genohall2235 Hence why I called it an anti-bullying song. What annoyed me about it was how "Runnin'" was used in the opening credits of the film "Tag" - which had NOTHING to do with being bullied.

Thanks for this one! I recorded a whole Pharcyde show here in LA for their 30 year anniversary album and 50 years of hip hop celebration, and the one and only Derrick Stewart aka Fatlip dropped a comment. Super down to earth group, they were hanging out with everyone after the show.

This is one of my fave songs of all time. So, getting to study and learn from Slim at music school was unexpected and a gift. He was putting out his solo stuff while I was studying and I remember hearing his stuff in the studio before he released it. Best part: he was doing a show during my school tenure and I was singing in the audience. I didn’t realize that Meshell Ndgeocello (pardon my spelling) was near me and my friends. Slim called her up to play /sing with him on stage but right before she went up, she said to me, “sounds like you want to be up there”. Then she said “c’mon “ and brought me up with her. If I recall , we sang and rocked out to Slim’s rendition of Family Affair bySly and the Family Stone. Just a random story. I will always remember Tre’s kindness, his teachings and him not kicking me off the stage when I was pulled up. 😅 this was about 20 years ago now. I’m 40 and live in Canada and going on 22nd year in my professional music career. 😊 Edit: I posted before watching and just finished th video. What a great treat this was. Thank you! And of course my fave song of all time is 93 till infinity… nice Segway. I already watched that video , but I just appreciate all that you do. Thanks!! ❤

The era, and area, of artists challenging themselves. The rappers inspire the beat makers, the beat makers inspire the rappers, and in turn inspire the album cover artist. And the live instruments, not just interpolations, that bring out the art of improv. The mighty Freestyle Fellowship, also carry that weight. And when they do a remix, it’s a different tune. They don’t just paste the vocals over another beat, they do it over so it fits the tone.
