Breaking Empire Total War by Refusing to Use Guns

Empire Total War is a game all about muskets and early modern warfare, but what if we refused? What if we NEVER used a gun? Can we beat the game? The answer is yes, but weirdly enough, it actually kind of breaks the game. How could not using guns in Empire Total War break the game? Simple, and I, Laith, will show you. Essentially, the AI gets very, very confused and simply charges your lines. You may be used to buggy ai exploits in games such as Warhammer Total War but Empire is something else all together. Think mass charging cavarly with musket troops kind of something else. Regardless, today we play as the Maratha Confederacy, a faction in Empire Total War, and have to take over India - primarily held by the Mughals. The Portugese also hold Goa, and if we're not careful, the English will come knocking and do British East India Company things. I'm getting ahead of myself here, so kick back, relax, and enjoy as we beat the short campaign in Empire: Total War.

Ah yes, Empire Total War. With its countless bugs and glitches. With a map the size of the human being who birthed you, to keep it 17'th century civil. This game stole many hundreds hours of my life, to my full enjoyment. This game is brilliant, even though the Total War community disagrees. @@jimbojangles9056 Empire is a bad game because it's bugged as shit and AI is God awful. But the setting and the map are amazing. Really a shame. Some mods such as Empire 2 Total war and Pirates Uber Alles really improve the game.

The buildings are awful and the maps don't match what's on the game, for example Rome and medieval if you fight in woods with a river on the campaign map you get that on the actual battle map, not here

I just want to point out that chasing down routing troops is never a war crime, not even in the modern day. Running away is not the same as surrendering, troops who run away can reorganise and return to fight again.

This is legit strategy for Ottomans. You make cheap pitchfork troops in front take first fire volley, then your expensive Janissaries behind reaches enemy infantry without any loss.

Also works for the Maratha. The cheap gun unit runs in front, absorbs gunfire on the way in, then fires one volley at point blank range before the Hindu Warriors go in through their line. Then the cheap gun unit follows the Hindu Warriors. Other units like Hindu Lancers flank. Completely devastates line infantry, crashes through the line like the Kool-Aid guy.

For reference, there's no law against taking fleeing enemies prisoner or even shooting them, the laws are for protection of prisoners in particular. So remember, if you want the protections of the geneva convention, surrender.

actually in empire spain often takes out portugal and that leaves their overseas provinces, goa in this case, as 'rebel occupied' so mysore took it from rebels, this also happens with ceylon if the french or spanish take out the United Provinces home region

I love Empire TW, I love playing Spain in Empire TW. You start with the worst King ever so I naturally spark a revolution to switch to Republic then start a counter revolution to switch to Constitutional Monarchy which usually gives you the best leaders and such and then prompty begin wrecking the Royal Navy with my pure Galleon fleets because I can.

Play as France and force The Revolution on turn 2 or 3 via max tax and putting the armies on the ships so they can't reach the siege, and Side with the Rebels. You get to play as Rev France starting on turn 2 or 3, and you can do some cheeky hugboxing with GB and Prussia. I had been playing Empire since sometime around launch and it took me until now to realize I could abuse the revolution mechanics. Note: Cannot play as Revolutionary Kandy Rebels.

It's my dream to see a second empire total war. It's genuinely my favourite historical total war in terms of what it tried to do. The tech system genuinely having a huge impact over the course of the campaign, actually managing to implement intercontinental war well, the naval game is just gorgeous, the tactics are fantastic. It got really unfairly abandoned over stupid corporate decisions Of course it is a buggy mess that's so undercooked that the entire indian subcontinent is unplayable because sieges on their forts completely break the ai, but hey ho

Playing the Maratha a broken strat i did(colonized Europe doing oretty much the same thing) blitz the army building tree for one reason...Sikh Warriors....they have better stats than Hindu ones and the Ghoorkas are good for number padding for autoresolve
