"Comparison is the thief of joy" is just a platitude that rich, attractive, or otherwise lucky people spew to keep the less fortunate in line. The video game analogy only works if humans had totally different goals in life, when in reality there is a lot of overlap. The person digging with a shovel and the person flying on a glider often want to get to the EXACT same destination and have the same or similar goals in life, so how can that ever be fair? Nah, it's honestly sick to try to downplay this. People born into poverty with abusive parents and trash genetics have basically no chance, while those born to money and good looks are almost guaranteed an easy and good life. You sound like the latter, happy for you.

Why would comparison is the thief of joy be reserved to so called “lucky” people? The idea is that - if you are focused on other peoples business, you are reciprocally not focused on yours. Although it may be true that reality overlaps, if you focus on what you do not have, you are less likely to be appreciative or even cognizant of what you do have. Every journey is unique, the same way there are many ways to come to one result. Because 5 + 5 is 10 does not mean that 2+2+2+2+2 is a less than ideal route to get to the same response. There is always a chance, a great chance at that. It’s your perspective that may be holding you back from realizing that, and although that perspective does not sound like an ideal one, you are free to choose how you would like to live, and that’s ok. Thanks for watching Koroar.

@@HowellConsultations It's a way for the privileged to minimalize the inequality and placate those who are miserable with nothing to lose and no future. I get what you're saying, but like with the video you're looking at it from the perspective that all humans have an equal opportunity at life, the same chances, and it's simply not true. 5+5 and 2+2+2+2+2 having the same result is great, and that might apply to two kids from similar backgrounds, upbringing and education. But realistically it's more like there are people with 10000 + 10000 lives, and those with 0.5 + 0.25 lives. Those can never possibly be equal. How is it fair that people born into wealth and good genetics have easier, better lives? It's not fair, so instead we come up with these dismissive phrases to stop people thinking about it. Oh well then they say "that's just life, life isn't fair, toughen up and get over it" yeah cool, so when the unfortunate people snap and take it out on the world I guess that applies then too, right?
