Just stumbled upon your channel while trying to find info for this storm for the Tampa Bay Area where I live. You’ve been the most helpful and given the best information out of all of the sources I’ve found so far, thank you!!

Hurricane IAN was a CAT5 when it made landfall in Cape Coral, FL. Everyone said it was hitting TAMPA, till the last minute.

Ian was a 4 at landfall, though almost a 5. It was a 5 before it weakened a little.

@@joannb6254 Atlanta should be fine right? We never have to worry about hurricanes at all so I wouldn’t be prepared but I’m just gonna assume it’s not much a threat for us?
@joannb6254Ай бұрын
@@leejones4429 no matter where we live it's actually a good idea to be prepared and have copies of important papers, food storage that you can easily grab up, water stored or water that you can quickly grab and run with. A grab-and-go preparedness bags are always a good idea to have just in case. However storm surge from the ocean I don't think that would be a problem in Atlanta I have been to Atlanta multiple times since I have family that live in Georgia. What is again I say it's never a bad idea to be prepared

Could the cold front push this more east?
@seannewman8542Ай бұрын
The last couple ICON model runs are showing it much farther east. Could be an outlier, but the new cone is slightly more east as well.

Why are they calling it a cyclone? Hurricanes are in the Atlantic, and Caribbean. Cyclones are in the Pacific Ocean.
@utastegood3353Ай бұрын
In meteorology, a cyclone (/ˈsaɪ.kloʊn/) is a large air mass that rotates around a strong center of low atmospheric pressure, counterclockwise in the Northern Hemisphere and clockwise in the Southern Hemisphere as viewed from above (opposite to an anticyclone Absolutely nothing to do with specific oceans though
@Torahlife7Ай бұрын
Typhoons are in the Pacific.
@allfunnydogsstories2129Ай бұрын
Hurricanes, typhoons and tropical cyclones are essentially the same weather phenomenon. They are all large tropical storm systems that revolve around an area of low pressure and produce heavy rain and wind speeds exceeding 74 mph (119 kph). The difference in their names is purely geographic. In the North Atlantic and Northeast Pacific oceans, the term ‘hurricane’ is used, whereas in the Northwest Pacific Ocean they are called ‘typhoons.’ The name ‘tropical cyclone’ - or sometimes ‘severe tropical cyclone’ or ‘severe cyclonic storm’ - is used in the South Pacific and Indian oceans.
