In this video I show myself running my Hangkai 3.5 hp outboard motor for the first time and breaking it in. I also mention a few things that I recommend you do to this motor before running it. Everything I've done to this motor I've done based on reading and watching videos I've watched on here that you can find yourself just by searching "hangkai 3.5hp" before purchasing the motor itself. Thus far it runs great in my opinion, but then again I am a novice to any motors of any kind. The only issue I find that may not be an issue at all, but in the video you can see that I have water shooting out of the top exhaust of the motor, as well as two screw holes on the sides. I've decided to take out the screws and see how it run without them. Please let me know if you know why this is happening or if its normal? That being said if you're willing to do some work and put in the effort I think you can make this motor run great even if you're a novice like me. Please feel free to comment and ask any questions you may have. Also please correct me if I say or do anything wrong as I myself am just learning about this motor right now.
Things to do before you turn it on:
1. Change the spark plug (champion cj8)
2. Fill the prop gears with oil
3. change the fuel lines
4. Make sure you use ethanol free fuel, and mix 2 stroke oil correctly into fuel
5. (Not necessary but convenient) drill a hole in the gas cap, fit it with an adapter, glue it together, make a breather hole, doing all of this lets you refuel easily on the water.
Tips: Make sure that if you use an external fuel tank that you use the oil/fuel mixture within 30 days or the quality will begin to degrade. Also NEVER use fuel with ethanol, it will rot the lines from what I've read and seen on videos. I highly reccomend this video made by Boilerdan1 • Hangkai 3.6 / 3.5 hp o...
