We have a 2018 Mercury 150 4stroke but it's on a pontoon. Question, how does your engine idle? We have 9.2hrs on ours and it runs very rough at idle and shakes like our old 2stroke? Dealer says that is normal for this new motor. I can't believe that Mercury would release for market a 4stroke motor that runs this poorly at idle and low rpms, 2000 and lower.
@ThomasHardenFishing6 жыл бұрын
It idles fine in neutral, but when you put it in gear, it does shake at low rpms. They say it is because it is a heavy stainless steel prop. I have a 24 pitch, what pitch prop do you have? I have 30 hours on my outboard now.
@richardreed67776 жыл бұрын
ThomasHardenFishing Our prop is a 15 pitch Stainless Steel. It runs very rough and shakes in neutral at 800rpms and even worse when in gear at the same. Very disappointed as we assumed it would be smooth running.
@ThomasHardenFishing6 жыл бұрын
I don't think it should idle rough in neutral since, the prop is not engaged. Mine idles rough at low rpms but smooths out as I increase speed.
@rjftransport26826 жыл бұрын
The 150 should idle very dmooth and quiet. We now have a 225 4 stroke. Same idles smooth in or out of gear on a 24 ft tritoon . We run a enertia 3 blade 14.7x16p or 4 blade hustler 15x15.

after a year running the new mercury what are the pros and cons and how many hours on it know , thanks
@ThomasHardenFishing5 жыл бұрын
I have around 140 hours on the motor. Pros: It is quieter than my old 2 stroke, you can hear your buddies at idle. Speed is about the same as my old Yamaha 150HP VMAX, the Mercury is about 1 mph faster, speed depends on my load that day. No more having 2 stroke smoke blow in your face on windy days. No more adding 2 stroke oil every other fill up, that saves a lot of money. More space in the battery compartment due to no oil reservoir. Cons: The hole shot is slow, but not a big deal to me. I'm not racing anyone. Hope this helps a little. If you have other questions, I'll try to help.
