In America, having lived here over 50 years, I have noticed that there is a Bhaarateeya identity that continues to exist in overt or covert forms , amongt the many, who emigrated to this country, say around the 60s or so. Whether the Bhaarateeyas admit it or not, it is always there, strong in those that continue to maintain their inherited Hindu Dhaarmic way of life, regardless of the faith they practice. In others who have absorbed many Western ways out of a need to conform, out of fear, fashion, ambition etc it still surfaces when they least suspect. The story is however very different among those that migrated here in the recent years, along with the coming of the " software industry". Their ignorance of the backbone of Bhaarateeya culture is glaring. Bollywood type standards influence every so called Indian pursuit covering especially, arts, rituals and appearances !!!

Vasanti Jayaswal you have really covered it very well. Ways of life of new generation not only in US but in India is also of deep concern and the errosion of Hindu values is so fast. Sure, anyone can very easily point a finger to the parents but deeper concern is, the apathy of new generation to thinking a bit and left wing has so easily won this. Shashtra is almost dead and Dharma almost forgotten in routine life. In days to come i see lottle difference between humans and animals trying just to make a living. I love Dr. Subramaniam Swamy, his guts and his approach to most things. But he must know that he got his history on Vijaya Nagar empire completely wrong. Hariahara and Bukkaraya were not muslims. They were Cheiftans of the Kakatiya Rulers of Warangal. When the Kaktiyas lost to the muslims, these two generals fled south and established the Vijaya Nagara empire. Like the Kakatiya rulers they were both worshipers of Shiva and Shakti.

yes as you said they were cheftians of kakatiya kingdom. but it is also true they were forcibly converted into Muslims and they reconverted into Hindus upon escape and established the Vijayanagara empire, onr of the greatest of the medieval empires.

There are distinctive sections among the youth. Obviously muslims and cxtians u know where they stand predominantly. South Indian hindu background are also in favour of the dk congress ideals..of course im an exception ;-). The supposed cosmopolitan , west-aping north indian crowd also subscribes to the western interpretation of things through media,movies etc and they never bother to understand this side of things. Only the middle class north indians and tambrahms are on this side.
