If you are a DC becoming a HC the element that gives you a chance to succeed is having a franchise QB. Without a FQB a DC becoming a HC has zero chance and will soon be a DC again, unless they are lucky enough to get another HC job immediately, even luckier if that job is with a team that already has a FQB. In any event DC HC's need that QB or they typically won't be long for the HC job.
