The video coming out of this camera is very nic, but where I think that this camera really shines is in its amazing picture output. The raw files coming out of this camera are the best that I had seen so far for the price. Value King!

oh, that's cool Sir.. it allows users to record a master file and a proxy file at the same time. This can speed up the editing process. And the focus is even faster in the new firmware update that's nice sir

Good news! Thanks for updating us on this! On a side note, if you have to choose between Lumix S5ii and Sigma Fp, which one would you pick?

If I’m being completely honest, it would probably be the lumix. I LOVE my FP but for video work, especially paid work it’s so much more of a better tool for that. Still use the fp for all my hobby projects though… I absolutely love that camera

It’s a very promising update… I hope it will deliver the goods like announced (especially AF improvements). Now, I don’t understand how the proxy thing would work, how the software would know and transfer/apply all cuts and colour grading edits done to the proxy to the original for export. I know how it works when you create the proxy (optimised version) from the original files, but this is within the software. Though I must admit that I haven’t watched any tutorials on the matter yet.

Would be great if they allow proxy with cards while recording on SSD , that’s would be great .just waiting to see if that’s would be the case . Been waiting this feature for long .

I took it out of the video for some reason but you can. The master file will go to the SSD and the proxy will go to SS card slot #2

Lumix would probably gain a lot more customers if they (like Fuji already do) give older cameras a bit of a boost with firmware updates. Even just some little improvements would be something.

THIS FEATURE (ssd with prores & proxy) is great!!! In some next firmware, I hope the QUALITY of the proxies, (FROM PRORES) will be at least 4k 100mbps. That would be a real revolution!!!

Excellent update. Thanks for the video. IMHO Lumix biggest problem is that the cameras are not sexy (in the Steve Jobs meaning of the word). They are the same old boring big camera design. I have the S5, but very happy that the S5 gen II cameras get updates. I think Lumix should be more proactive in this sense to show they care about their customers like Sigma does. I basically always pick up my Sigma fp and almost never the S5...

Well, like always, this is a matter of taste, and I beg to differ. My S5 IIX is a sexy beast that looks like something from Batman’s (the Nolan trilogy) arsenal.

What is the actual crop factor of the e-stabilization high setting?

I believe it’s 1.3 to 1.5x crop

It won’t let me open the bin file Unable to expand "S5m2_V30 2.bin". It is in an unsupported format.

The bin needs to on the sd card. You won’t be able to expand it. Transfer the bin file to the sd card and that is way at the camera reads

phase detection auto focus ....i call it FACE OUT OF FOCUS .....jumping like a sick high antifa activist .....bought this camera 8 months ago and auto focus ? they invite bunch of camera pros ( parasites ) so i paid 2000 bucks for parasites trip to japan ....now the camera cost 300 bucks less so if i want to sell and I like to i must drop the price( buying mine for 1300 bucks i m happy with this camera even with all bunch of mistakes but it is not worth 1700 and new was 2000 ....so value of this camera ? ......regret it every time i must take pictures of moving subjects (unpredictable autofocus ) regret cause the sync app is just the biggest connect app disaster ......regret fo rthe battery life ....and now even for the price drop........ never again Panasonic
