The only way I use this is with my 10mm and 15mm. Well calibrated, it gets amazing results. I feel its easier to peek focus on tighter lenses even though ive got great results with my Sirui 35mm anamorphic too.

Thanks so much for such a helpful video. 3 questions if you would be so kind to answer: 1) Without a top handle, are you shooting with this handheld much and if so how are you generally holding it? 2) The battery and SDD add weight to this and seem to make it more of a permanent rig; are you ever gimbal mounting this and if so do you have to quickly strip it down? 3) As your main viewfinder is folded away do you ever need to use the touchscreen? (I usually find it helpful for autofocus) Thanks!

Did not know the s1H does not allow blackmagic raw... imo all modern cameras are great, seriously i have matched my gh5 to way more proffesional cameras and nobody noticed (as long as you use same lenses), nowadays i feel is more about the extra features and price. canon is good except the format is kind of a killer for editing software, sony is great in lowlight, and panasonic is just killing it with features and price. I have the s5 mk 2 X and im so happy recording prores to external ssd s and even black magic raw with the video assist monitor. which for some silly reason sony does not want to support. I rented sony for professional work for years, but with the s5 mk 2 X i managed to convince a client to shoot on the panasonic and they are happy with the result... (what they dont know is that some of the shots were captured using iphone 15 pro max) I rigged the iphone on top with a little camp, looked like i was previewing or something and the editor ended up using like 30% of the shots from the iphone. Did have to clarify to the colorist that i used apple log but no problem matching those anyways. the footage made it to a well know streaming platform...WHAT? prores 4k 60p 422 HDR on a phone is crazy isnt it?

Were you using this lens with a mist/diffusion filter, or was that halation around the light sources naturally part of this lens’ character?

Very good video, I loved the example images. I have the Vision series, I love the look of it. But they have a big problem, and it is the lack of focal lengths. That's why this set is interesting, although less bright and with less "character". Keep up the good work!

@Niquitus5 күн бұрын
A cheaper alternative to the Vision series, with a more modern look, without as much "character" and with more focal length options. I wish his look had been a little more sober. But nothing to complain about in terms of quality/price ratio, right?
@RICH_Photography5 күн бұрын
Pretty cool, I think a lot of competition stopped down to 2.1 is gonna perform similar. My only concern is the reviews I’ve seen have CRAZY colour differences between the different focal lengths. Butttt…with all that said, competition is good and I’m glad brands are making lenses for MFT and adapting to so many other APSC mounts. Win for the industry.

No one will buy this lens for 200, even its mount is plastic. When you get it free for your S9, then it is ok to play with it. Its hyperfocal distance is 3.7 m, so I fixated the focus ring to that position with a piece of masking tape. I bought a 28mm external optical viewfinder and voila I have a perfect street camera both video and stills. F8 is totally fine for street, cityscape, landscape in any seasons even golden hours. Panasonic engineers are not idiots, F8 for 26mm to get 4m hyperfocal distance was perfect. If you need full control, there are millions of options: Brightning Start 28mm f2.8 for 400 is awesome, for example.

Dear Anson, I just bought a Sigma FP after watching all your videos obsessively about it over the past few years, and for the life of me can’t figure out how to set a 9x16 frame guide as a second custom preset. Is there something I’m missing, or just not very good at math? Any help will be so appreciated. Keep up all your great work maintaining this beautiful little image making machine in the collective consciousness. Mxx
@Ansonandco7 күн бұрын
@@MichaelSandersStudio awesome! I’m glad the videos have helped your buying decision. For the 9x16 frame guide, because you cannot use double digits on the second half, I use 5:9. That is the ratio I have found that gets you pretty damn close to 9:16. When you set it up on the fp it should read “05.00:9”. I hope that help! Let me know if you run into any issues
@MichaelSandersStudio7 күн бұрын
Thanks so much, it worked, and I can have it in conjunction with a 2.39:1 frame guide also! As I was reading your reply, i remembered that you had mentioned that 5:9 hack in a previous set up video so thanks for the reminder. I’m curious to know whether you shoot vertical vids with the guide and the camera horizontal for social media, or do you shoot in portrait orientation? I bought the camera specifically to shoot street interviews for IG/Tik Toks, and found that a 24mm FF equivalent lens makes for the most comfortable distance from a subject, while close enough to get good on camera mic sound. But that’s with the camera held vertically. and I’d need a wider lens to shoot with the vertical frame camera horizontally, or have to step back to get them all in and so further away from mic, and more distortion from a 20mm or wider lens… I also bought the FP after having returned a Sony ZVE1 purchased for the same reason-compact size, low weight EDC with point n shoot/non threatening look to it, but didn’t like the “video-y” quality SOOC, although it did have amazing eye AF…anyways , I kept the tiny little Sony ECM G1 mic that can work with the Sigma which makes me think that there’s a whole world of potential reviews that you can shoot of lenses and other mini accessories that complement and retain the compact size and form factor most of us were drawn to the SP for in the first place. such as the diminutive TT artisans 17mm f1.4 APSC lens that I purchased brand new for $78! There’s a plethora of such lenses from TT Artisans, 7 Artisans, Voigtlander, Leica, Thypoch etc. Also came across this video of a new cage system if people want to go the other way and rig up the camera for full on Cinema use, looks cool, but I’m starting to ramble, so thanks again! For some reason, when shooting a fast time-lapse in interval mode (stills mode), the camera will allow you to set an interval of 1 fps, but then it will not respect that interval (neither SSD nor v60 SD cards work). Instead, it will use a two second interval. I tried using an external intervalometer with the camera in bulb mode, but the camera will just skip frames when trying to shoot at 1 fps. I'd love to see them fix this issue. Alternatively, it would be nice to be able to shoot at arbitrary frame rates (1fps, 3fps, etc) in cine mode, again for time-lapses.
