Wonderful idea with engraving the killing edge with Micaiah, just keep in mind lategame maddening really like using heroes and warriors who are gonna do a lot of assist damage which is always does a fixed amount. If your trying to solo the game with just Alear I'd play it a bit slower with SP to see what skills you'll need later on only getting the ones you feel are a necessity for the upcoming chapters. Also as far as class wise for alear in a solo run, fliers always a great option, but great knight and wolf knight are gonna have some situational utility once avoid isn't 100% reliable to get by on.

I've done a similar version of this but more extreme in the midgame with the corrin ring. I reclassed alear to an archer to be a covert class, so that the fog from corrin's dragonvein is +60% avoid. This means that with the radiant mini bow +5, my alear has well over 200 avoid on defensive terrain tiles. Add that to the fact that corrin post-paralogue gives chain attack immunity, and he very much is an unbreakable wall.

I actually managed to get plot Veyle down to 1HP using flame gambit and a longbow. Unfortunately flame won't kill a unit.

High avoid + high res build with the skill that prevents chain attack is bonkers from my play through. Pretty much makes your character invincible.

I'm very happy to see a solo maddening run's possible via preparing before chapter 6. as I deff had my doubts it could officially start til after chapter 6 at the latest since I thought you'd need all your army to deal with the first few chapters, but now i see you can funnel exp into Alear- and I thought the Turn Limit maps would pose the biggest problem, until I saw it mentioned how the AI have this quirk where they won't attack you if you have enough avoid. its all very interesting I'm deff gonna try a solo run on maddening for sure once i'm done breaking hard mode via "retry from battle start" to make busted units(I love Etie and Yunaka)

I discovered a great way to decrease the difficulty of Tiki’s map of you go for it asap on maddening difficulty. Yunaka can solo the infinite dragon reinforcements by standing in the pillars. The dragons had ~19% to hit her and she was able to two round them with a +2 iron dagger.

I had one of my characters build exactly like this and it was actually my best unit in my maddening run, the only thing I had difficulty with were maps like Leif’s Paralogue (with the xbows: crazy range and they hit u regardless, I couldn’t dodge them with 250+ avoid) and chain attacks from backup enemies (but that can be easily solved w Corrins skill)

I got alcryst to a whopping 37 dex at level 10 on his advanced class, which has an ability that halves defense based on dex so he just tears into armored units with a killer bow

I did this build on accident kinda. I generally funnel everything to main character as I'm picking my team fully. She can solo the map with minimal support but most maps require 2 fronts later in the game. She also is getting whomped by chain attacks later but the rest of the squad is doing there part now.

There are a couple of late game chapters where the boss has access to Marth's ring and can use the unavoidable flurry attack while equipping his Falchion to one round kill Alear. Even then, other emblem attacks from enemies could threaten kills on maddening difficulties. Another potential roadblock to Alear solos (I could be proven wrong) are a couple of gimmick chapters that expects you to use multiple units to do certain things one unit can't do all by themselves.

I'm playing on Hard, Casual mode and that's doing nearly 100 damage to me, and that's with a maxed out class, AND you can even fight the boss on a Protection Tile which DOES NOT HELP

I saw a play through where some one used the call doubles ability on Lyn to bait the attack. So the enemy used the attack on the double and then the player can attack the enemy on the player turn.

Hmm, wonder if its possible to defeat Veyle with Backup attacks, since with his build it might be possible to clear out the bottom half and just have Alear tank the entire top side. This is assuming Backup attacks %based damage is still used on Veyle

Oooooo this is decent thinking. I'm going to imagine that wouldn't work - and the setup would be long and arduous to get everyone safely up their and able to take her on, but it is a good point. My bet would be it would do damage but she would get stuck at 1hp and that would be it.

thief is the best class in the game daggers are the best weapon type and covert doubles the avoid bonus of terrain a max forge silver dagger has _19 might_ throw on the awakening or dawn engrave depending on your tastes and you basically have an invincible unit without effort i guess you could do this with the mini bow on an archery class but the damage output would be much worse

I +5 her liberation weapon and gave her one of the engravings. Most enemies will freeze if their hit % is 0 🤣. Perhaps it's not the best weapon but I love liberation design. I'm still trying to clear out the chapter 11 stage with just alear and the assassin chick

I feel like just adding Avoid to everyone will literally break the game, it's literally Avoid Emblem especially with Thief. I kind a want to make a Thief Emblem in a Maddening playthrough not going to lie haha.

@@pesky2119 later on they counter this by having a plethora of back up units that have a fixed hit rate and the chains can be insane. Though an emblem ring later on does block back up attacks, but even then yoy usually have more than 1 area to worry about on later maps so the rest of your units have to deal with backups.

Bit of an old video for this but honestly I found Alcryst to be weirdly good all things considered. He's the best archer in the game bar none and he always managed to surprise me. He can easily drain the health of anything dragon typed from across the entire map with Lyn's special attack and had more than enough dodge to rarely ever get attacked by anything that comes close to him. Sure he wasn't straight up overpowered like Alear or Diamant but he easily fits into 3rd place for best unit for me. Also are fliers really that good? This was the first FE game I got through and they seemed kind of bad with the vulnerabilities they come with, same for cavalry (Also flower prince's best class not coming with S in lances is weird as hell imo)

I was dodge tanking with Zelkov and having them just walk by him because they cant hit him was pretty annoying. It sucks with tanks too, they just don't attack if they do 0 dmg.

I fought the final boss, and...my Alear just...kinda flew around the map, killing the guys you need to, then simply stood right up against Sombron and he quickly got erased.

This looks insane, and the early game characters are kind of outclassed or are easily replaceable with mid-late game pre-promotes anyway. I wonder if doing this to chapter 11 and then using the juicy recruits they give you later on would be the most efficient way to play the game?

There are exceptions but yeah generally true. The fixed growth rates on maddening help mitigate the rng but also kind of cripple early units from ever being good since they can never get lucky stat ups.

Lul "challenge run" **Uses broken p2w dlc** Fwiw you did say this would work without the dlc? Let's see it. I think the dlc provides massive needed utility just in the free move+1, although +2 stat ups for early game definitely never hurt when everyone has 5-6 in most stats. Strong agree with alear dodge tank though, mine's a wyvern and it is completely insane on maddening. I didn't even focus hard on dodge tanking and her avoid is still ~65 at ch 11.
