I think "redemption arc" is almost the wrong way to put it. The whole situation was shady and he wasn't ever really charged with anything. Ultimately, not only is Kang an important Marvel villain, but what Majors brought to that role was excellent, and as you mentioned, hardly the issue with the Multiverse saga. It would be wasteful and tragic to just pretend that character no longer exists!

What did Wesley Snipes do to Marvel that they came back and gave him a second chance? Really people should be mentioning Jeremy Renner. He never got any criticism and still had his show premiered. He was an alleged belligerent drunk and drug abuser by his own wife as well as brandishing a weapon threatening to off his wife and himself. He didn’t even get so much as a slap on the wrist. They didn’t cancel his show or anything. Wasn’t even talked about. They did Jonathan Majors dirty by siding his girlfriend at the time when everyone clearly saw the video.

That's a shame. RDJ got a second shot in the industry. Majors deserves his chance to shine (again) in the character. His character could become a constant pop-up in MCU films in a multi-film crossover - as Kang against the Avengers, later appearing as Rama-Tut in an FF film, and again as Immortus in an Avengers film where his arc is brought to a conclusion. That would make a great post-Dr. Doom storyline.

Also his ex girlfriend worked on the set of Ant man 3. It’s a nightmare for them. Even if they recast, the new actor would be bombarded with questions about majors. It’s not a simple thing. In the comics, Kang and Doom work together occassionally. It would be a missed opportunity if Kang is already established as a character but never get the chance to cross path/work with Doom. They definitely should get Majors back, all these HWR and Council of Kangs backstories need to get told and wrapped up with satisfying closure instead of getting neglected.
