I think the flashy dunks probably add more insult to injury than like a lazy meaningless layup or a three, but I understand them more. It's an entertainment sport. Fans came to watch a good game. If they get a windmill dunk out of a blowout, that's a good thing. There might be some kid at the only basketball game they'll ever see in their life and they might get to see something spectacular.

I love the NBA but this is the only part that sucks about the sport - they all give up on the game sometimes 10 minutes before it's all over - in other sports they will fight tooth and nail until the last second, even if there's no chance they will make a chance, they will drag themselves closer. And it's so dumb because all it takes is a couple of stops and a few 3's to drop and a lead can be erased - and these players all know this from experience.

Honestly, if you’re that mad, don’t get blown out, I know it happens to the best but it happens less to the better teams. Use that unreleased emotion to land some shots and play better defense and maybe you wouldn’t be on the losing end, every time I got mad at a winner I remembered this. I understand there’s an unwritten rule but the only reason they're acting on it is embarrassment, hence why there’s a lot of hypocrisy.

There are a lot of “unwritten rules” in certain sports. Still, I would rather deal with an NBA player making an extra basket that CAN’T HURT anyone than the STUPID ones in baseball. Deliberately throwing at a batter if it was done by the opposing pitcher, benches emptying to “protect” a player and other stuff.
