Wish he made it to denver earlier - though he is still very much in shape and an asset

Russ can still be a starter and play at an all star level and tbf has been better than Murray all year. Ofc he won’t start over Murray but they should get similar minutes
@sammyslam15 сағат бұрын
I agree Russ should be getting 28-32 mins a game, not at Murray or CB's expense but at the expense of Strawther and Saric Coach Malone has to reduce the minutes of the lesser players. He can do this without increasing Jokic's minutes.
@martinvidenovic57674 сағат бұрын
No one from the Denver board will allow Murray, who received 200 million, to sit on the bench while Russ plays big minutes. As much as Russ is better. Denver made a mistake with Mureey and that's for sure, but no one in the world would admit such a costly mistake.
@liamleadley91684 сағат бұрын
@ yeah I agree but you can still split some of his mins with Russ doesn’t have to be 40 mins for Murray and 20 for Russ
@sammyslam14 сағат бұрын
@@martinvidenovic5767 ....the thing is with staggered minutes all 3 top guards can play 30+ mins. Murray, Braun, and Russ can all play 30+ mins if it's handled right by the coaching staff. You have 96 possible pg and shooting guard minutes and Braun can even play some of the 48 possible sf minutes. There is no need to bench Murray for Russ. Murray still starts and Braun still starts. Russ is still a reserve but moves from 18-24 mins to 28-32 mins. From 4.5-6 mins per qtr to 7-8 mins per qtr. An increase of only 2 to 2.5 mins per qtr. Obviously this means reducing Strawthers minutes, which is exactly what she be done. Strawther should only see his minutes increase due to injury or foul trouble.

@@kylecooper139.....you know i think if they want Saric to succeed they are going to have to play him more with Jokic. I think The Nuggets really need to trade Zeke Nnaji for a true backup center who defends and rebounds but if they want Saric to be successful, he has to play his minutes next to Jokic. One way to do this while Gordon is still out is to start Watson of course but to sub out Watson, CB, and MPJ earlier so Saric, Strawther, and Tyson come in.... That way when Russ comes in, he can come in with Jordan, Watson, MPJ, and CB...... It's clear that the second unit needs a defensive rebounding presence, better defensive players, and more shooting... Jordan also gives Russ a lob threat... The problem with that is Jordan is probably not someone you will want to play come postseason time when rotations are shortened and neither are Saric or Strawther in my view. So trading for a better backup center should be priority #1 for The Nuggets

Denver is NOT a championship contender! They may have the best player in the world, but it takes more than that. Denver front office destroyed one of the best teams in the league; they released Bruce Brown & KCP, their key perimeter defenders who were a massive part of winning the championship. At least they can now pay MPJ $36M to $40M per year, to average 12 ppg. ...NEPOTISM....
@sammyslam14 сағат бұрын
@@tropickman ...i'm not sure i agree with that assessment? I like their top 7 rotation players: Jokic, Gordon, Porter Jr, Braun, Murray, Westbrook, and Watson. Most championship contenders have a tight 8-9 man postseason rotation, so i think The Nuggets are two reserves away from having a real shot. Backup center(which they could trade for) and either a more experienced shooting guard or combo defensive wing. That would give them as good a chance as anyone, including Boston and OKC, in my view

I think jokic wanted him on the team because he wanted to give this team something to play for. He talked about how important getting a ring for the vets was that year they won and I think he saw last year that they just didn't care as much in the playoffs.

I believe this Jokić Russ thing has been a bit overblown. Jokić is at the period in his career when the front office tells him what they are trying to do to see if he is ok with it. So it's not that he requested Russ he just said yes. Now we never got a comment from the back office about his yes before so it might have been an enthusiastic yes, but it was not a request.
@AbcDino8432 сағат бұрын
I think so too. The main thing though is that Russ us fitting in well and is a big improvement over Jackson.
@KalifUmestoKalifa2 сағат бұрын
@AbcDino843 Russ has a much higher celling than Jackson, he also has a lower floor so his bad games hurt Nuggets more. Also, while he's excellent at replacing Murray next to Jokić he's much less impressive at leading the bench unit. Additionally his pace makes Dario Šarić unusable when he has shown that he can actually carry his weight next to Murray and with both Šarić and Zeke unusable and also being 5th and 6th highest payed players and Vlatko and Holmes being out it's rough for non Jokić minutes.
