I don't get why it is such a big deal to let the other team know you're going for those four yards before the play. It wasn't like they lined up in victory and then tricked them with that play. If it is a division rival, I would be pissed...conference rival, a little less so. But, your idea is pure genius. I would seriously love to see a team do that. They could march right down the field on penalties to the point you cannot get those four yards.
@joshuamartin32322 жыл бұрын
They could just decline the penalty though
@DrCatherwood2 жыл бұрын
The game can’t end on a defensive penalty. The Ravens would keep getting untimed downs if the clock ran out. And if the Broncos did it continually, the refs could penalize them for a palpably unfair act (deliberately committing multiple penalties to stifle an opponent play).

Ravens vs Bangles: don't throw a 50 yard bomb when the game is already over. Whichever team vs Jets in this clip: just take a knee when your winning and the game is basically over. Harbaughs don't mind breaking rules, written or not. I remember the ref-lockout, 49ers were trailing the Vikings in Minnesota. Harbaugh takes his last timeout, then marches to the Ref "I wanna challenge, but am out of Timouts, how does it work?" Like he doesn't know the rules and ends up getting that challenge and his timeout back. Uses it to challenge once more afterwards IIRC and then finally takes it. Replacement Refs were bad, but no needs to actively confuse and gaslight them like that. He openly talked about doing it afterwards as well. Vikings still won.

I don't think spreads should even be allowed. Why should the results of a wager be dependent on something the players themselves don't give a shit about? All bets should be win/lose, with odds applied appropriately. Any spread just opens an opportunity for point shaving.

@@mal2ksc I literally have zero problem with college kids point shaving because they’re not getting appropriately paid for their labor. As for pro level…the point you made is why I think NFL players and staff should be able to bet on their own games…but only ever for their own team to win.

Funny thing is in todays game, the announcers were talking about how the Bronco fan base would certainly go to war for Vic. How happy they are with him. I was watching thinking wtf are they talking about. Espn commentators have to be the worst.

The 2nd example was strange. It almost seemed like they just wanted to try to make John Harbaugh look bad for some reason. Rather than actually showing Harbaugh himself criticize the other team/coach, they just used clips of sports talk show hosts speculating on the intent of a post-game handshake; which would lead me to believe there is no such clip of Harbaugh to begin with. I mean, I’m sure that during the handshake he did ask the Bengals coach why they ran the play, but that seems like a perfectly fair question to ask - it would appear he was satisfied with the answer he received too, since throughout the entirety of both clips there is literally a quote on the screen from his post-game press conference where he stated that everything was fine, and that he shared a mutual respect with the Bengals coach.

Harbaugh asks why the other team ran a play? Because there was still like 2 minutes on the clock fuckface. If Harbaugh doesn't want the other team to keep playing, then forfeit and send your team to the locker room.

I don't get why some coaches are so offended by other teams trying to break a record or score one more TD. There is nothing unsportsmanlike about that.
