My Palestinian friend (I'm Australian) is visiting his family in Syria in April and feels a similar sense of constant shame and helplessness, but he still holds out hope and feels he may never, or know for how long, it's even a possibility to visit liberated Syria, let alone Palestine. As grave and hopeless as this situation is I hope Netanyahu falls in the near future and some semblance of dignity and peace is restored to Palestine as soon as possible. We can only hope and do everything we can to support even the slightest incremental signs of progress. Le Duc Tho and Henry Kissinger were both offered a Nobel peace prize for negotiating a peace deal in Vietnam... one which fell apart within months. Le Duc Tho refused the prize (only person to ever willingly refuse the peace prize) saying the work is unfinished and he couldn’t bear to share a prize with Kissinger. Kissinger had basically the same reasoning, but accepted the prize nonetheless.
