I'm still wanting to get a 2017 Raptor. I just don't care for the 2020's lights honestly. They changed them so far apart from how they were and personally I don't care one bit for them. The previous generation (2017-2020) just screams raptor but these new headlights just scream hybrid and hybrid doesn't really fit the word Raptor. Raptors are supposed to be loud and strong while a Hybrid/full electric is just a knock-off super charger whine.

Ford doesn't like to be topped when it comes to the F150, so I can see them putting the 5.2 Predator engine in the Raptor, but it might be a very expensive limited run version of the Raptor, as the Romeo engine plant is set to close down in December 2022, so their might be close to two years of availability, the Ecoboost is not going anywhere probably as the regular engine, and maybe the Powerboost or HO hybrid versions.

I can’t wait to see the engine and transmission combination. I do think it will be the 5.2 supercharged but I don’t think Ford will put a DCT in an off-road truck. DCTs are awesome and shift crazy fast but they are not the best at rock crawling or slower trail riding. I understand the raptor is meant to Baja but most people don’t use it for that. In my experience, a 10 speed with a torque converter would work a lot better off-road and be more durable.

I hope this leads to Ford sticking some super V8s in other vehicles to stand up to the competition, i.e. the Explorer ST vs Durango Hellcat / Jeep Trackhawk. Love my ST, but I gladly would have paid more for blown 5.2L V-8 version. OR, Ford really needs to come out with a smallish EcoBoost V8 for certain applications. Something like 500+hp 4.0Ltt V8. Stick it in the Explorer ST, the regular Raptor, GT supercar, etc.. That way you get the performance and the sound.

7.3 is a very popular engine and very capable of alot of power , but it's alot of extra weight for a half ton pickup truck with soft off-road suspension , maybe a supercharged 5.0 l Coyote engine . But the most likely is the 5.2 from the GT350R that's where the raptor R comes from most likely

I don't know where this information comes from but I wasn't able to confirm it anywhere online or at Ford. This tune up of 3.5. L Eco boost is particularly strange since the 3rd gen face life Raptor came out for the year 2021 and it had the same engine sporting 450 HP. I doubt that Ford would tune up this same engine just a year later and give it 50 HP more.. As far as Raptor R is concerned, that is a possibility given the fact that the RAM TRX is selling like crazy, and therefore taking customers away from the Raptor. We'll see..

If you plan on racing it in the dunes perhaps, but until they address their crappy interiors, I'm still on the fence. I didn't buy the 1st Gen Trx because it had no option for Ramboxes which is a must for me as that is where my fishing rods go. Ford is the only truck I've never owned, but I definitely will be taking a careful look at this one... here's to hoping.

I think Ford has made a smart move with the V8 option...even if the V6 is faster you can’t ignore what customers want... I love the front end look going back to how they were a few years ago...if it’s great and people like it stick with it!.. So many manufacturers these days will change the look for the sake of change even if it looks worse...which is total insanity from a business sense.. For example...personally I hate the look of the electric F-150... and don’t really like the new Chevys... the previous models looked great but they changed them and put a lot of buyers off, including me... most people aren’t that loyal that they’ll stick with one brand no matter what nor should they. It’s a buyers market, we choose the best option available at the time... When Ram did their redesign a couple of years ago they got a lot of business because they made awesome trucks... This Raptor R is going to be extremely popular and it deserves to be...it’s an awesome design giving buyers what they want.

TFL purchased a Raptor and a TRX for long term test vehicles. Both trucks has $77k price tags on them. The Raptor had a few more options for the $77k, but still that was for a V6 Ecoboost. A V8 Raptor is going to base price @ $75k and go all the way to $100k. The most expensive TRX I've seen to date was just over $94k, so I don't know where the $120k price tag came from. One thing that looks nice but is as functional as a screen door on a submarine is the panoramic moon roof. IMO there's too much body movement to have 2 large pieces of glass over head. YRMV.

I wouldn't call being behind for 3 months since the TRX came out, but being prior to that the king since 2010, the year the Raptor was introduced. Ford's basically spotting them three to four months to hold that title, and that's it. Not to mention Baja1,000 is the real measuring stick and RAM has yet to finish or accomplish that feat, anybody can go zero to 60 a couple of times, when your truck can take a beating for a thousand miles then you've accomplished something, that's one place ram will lack, reliability. Just like their cars the TRX is going to be fat, well-powered indeed, but still fat.

GM has a history of releasing terrific cars nobody wants; case in point the Alpha Camaro, I hope the C8 does well however I'm fairly certain it falls into that category. As far as the Raptor VS. the TRX, there is a lot of hype yet my bet is the 3.5L Raptors easily out sell these overpowered V8 monsters.

@@MstaEd TRX is a 1/4 mile pig that should have been the next Viper street truck but they had to put a 4 wheel drive system under it with beefy tires. It wouldn’t ever finish the Baja 1000 there is a reason they one upped the Raptor every possible way expect for finishing the damn race it was supposedly designed for. Everyone forgets that because it does 0-60 in 3.5s.

2019’s have the live valve shocks. Also, I got my 2019 Raptor for $6k less then the sticker a year ago. There is no 2021 Raptor either. If you’re interested in the current Raptor, it’s easy to find them for under sticker.

I LOVE my Raptor. I have the 2017 turbo and I don’t care what naysayers say. This truck is the best truck EVER! In ALL aspects. Design, performance and the POWER. Holy smokes…the absolute power. It was quite scary and intimidating at first! But when you get to know your baby it becomes an amazing machine. I’m %100 happy and satisfied with my purchase and will NEVER drive any other truck ever again and I’ll never get rid of my baby. Even if I buy a newer model, then that means I’ll have TWO amazing trucks 🤷🏻‍♂️ right? Lol thanks for the vid. It just made me more prouder to be a fellow Raptor owner

As I said why didn't they put the 3.5 from the Ford GT and the regular raptor temporarily until the V8 r model come out it's basically different heads a tune and an intake would have been a little better matchup and either way you go to the dealer and there is that little extra sticker on there market value adjustment $20,000 so if you're going to do that put the other v6 in it

Considering the ram Trx demolished the Shelby f-150 that had 770hp I think it will demolish the new ford raptor with a v8 that has less horsepower and is much heavier than a Shelby f-150

I would love to see Ford bring back the V8 in the Raptor, it makes for healthy competition against my TRX. However, that being said I don’t think Ford wants to play “tit for tat” with Ram/SRT/Stellantis. The Raptor R will be countered with the Redeye engine that’s IF it outperforms the TRX. Ford biggest current mass produced V-8 I believe is the 5.2 Coyote regarding gassers correct me if I’m wrong. There is no replacement for displacement and the Mopar guys have such a higher ceiling.

That Shelby struggles with my Hellcat Charger and it stands no chance against a Demon or Super Stock. Unless they fix the pos transmission from the 2018, they might as well give up. I have a friend thats had his 18 at the dealer 4 times with transmission problems. Rebuilt once already. 22k miles total and its slipping still. Ford was a great co. years ago but quality is certainly NOT job one anymore
