I definitely think after seeing the rookies in training camp and their durability issues, the 49ers have come to the realization that they need BA or at least another top level receiver in a trade. Signing BA is the easiest route to go. Period.

Maybe….but I think if the new receivers were killing it in camp the 49ers would be more likely to accept draft picks from the Steelers or whoever and compete the trade.

@@rogerwaters9517The only reason the NE and CLE offers didn't go thru was coz BA didn't wanna sign with them. And now that it's just a one team race, Pitt is likely low-balling to get BA. 9ers would be foolish to settle for less. Imo 9ers reopened negotiations now that BA saw the teams willing to trade for and pay him are limited. 9ers don't really have to do anything as he is on his 5th yr option rn. But no trade and no extension means BA loses out on at least 12M this year. And if he fails to be as productive as last season, teams will pay him less next year. 9ers have the leverage.

@@katstone780 this is where I'm at, the drama probably costed Aiyuk atleast 5-6 million a year. He complains about the qb situation in New England, but thinks Pittsburgh is much better?? I think dudes confused and ruined his reputation at this point.

If it was me I would have him play under the fifth year option an franchise tag him the next year. Even if they sign him to a long-term deal he's still playing under the 5th option this year.

Im a baseball guy who started getting into football and i want to know why a player could just not practice because of contract talks. Isnt he still under contract untill after this season? If so why are they allowing a player to skip out on practicing just because he wants to talk contracts. Its like a baseball player not playing spring training because they want to get traded. To me it makes no sense and i dont see why it is tolerated by coaches. Also i dont see why a player wouldnt want practice before a season despite what team he is playing for that season

The biggest thing is players don’t want to risk injuries while trying to get paid. If they get hurt they lose money. I’m not saying I like it, but I definitely understand. Much higher injury rate in training camp than in spring training.

I’d offer him the same as their last offer and if he doesn’t want it, trade him to the worst team in the coldest city they can find, that’ll pay him!
