Breaking News! Ebay Acquires Goldin, PSA Acquires VAULT - Why This Could Be Big For Comic Books...

In this video I talk about the recent EBAY acquisition that trades Goldin Auction to them while PSA picks up the EBAY vault. This is big collectable business going on. While this looks like a move for them to form voltron and battle Fanatics, it could also have huge implications on the comic book market and potentially CGC and CBCS in the future. If you're buying comics because you enjoy reading them- this pales in comparison to how hard it can be to find comics with good stories and good art in them on the shelves every week. When is the last time anyone here finished a comic and thought this was a great story featuring a milestone moment for my favorite hero- I should get this graded!

​@@glennsimpson_aka_bobbysaccaro I buy about 40-50 books a month. There are really good books out there worth your time. None really from Marvel, besides USM, a few from DC, but mostly Indie/Image. Grading books always seemed weird to me. Sure grading books from between the golden age to the 80s makes sense if you want to encapsule a relic but I like opening up and reading and going back to the past. Idk you could buy collected editions but grading books nowadays is the worst type of speculation.

Psa only giving single number grades is going to change everything and I do mean everything inside the graded comic book space. A 9.9 from cgc becomes a 9.5 from Beckett and the card grading space. Everybody would almost exclusively rather have the PSA. 10

Acquisition is the best way to inflate your stock price without providing any benefit & hiding egregious profits to avoid taxes & eliciting stock buybacks to further artificially inflate the house of cards.

There was tremendous and steady growth all 2010s which exploded in 2019 and 2020 to an astronomical point and scammers infiltrated at that time mucking up the hobby and it has been mucked up more and more from that point. They don't need cbcs. They already run the card space over Beckett and CGC now that they are combining forces with eBay, they can push algorithms towards PSA items in avoiding additional fees like using cgc or cbcs. This helps out the collector and also increases their market share. It's only a matter of time now until they enter the comic book space there will be more on this covered in my channel.

I used PWCC for buying a lot of awesome comic slabs undervalued. Saved a crap load on tax free buys. Just had to have the items sit in my free tax free vault for 90 days. After shipping, I spent $60 for shipping on 30 comic slabs and they packed it like armor and saved over $500 on sales tax, so I won! Whatever! I hate Goldin. But PWCC was an awsome experience.

Something is gonna go wrong sometime in the future and when their assets get froze, so does your property that they are holding. If there is a security breach and they freeze transactions... guess what... they have your items. I dont trust any company enough to allow them to hold my assets physically.

Absolutely because remember eBay pushes algorithms. If they can push a company that's owned via eBay, they will definitely push more foot traffic via PSA items. It's only a matter of time now until they actually enter the comic space

It's all so depressing. Capitalism has ruined our hobby. It's all about stocks and projections now. I remember when it was about captivating stories and seeing your favorite artist's work. A community of people brought together by a common love of stories and art. Now it's mostly money mongers. I know my opinion is worthless, though, because you can't grade and flip it.

@@HomesteadingNorthernMichigan Thank You!!! I collect because of the great art and the stories but I love that I can sell what I don't want anymore. I speculate sometimes but for the most part I buy what I want. I buy higher grade books of the covers or stories that I like. Part of the hobby is being with collectors and vendors and talking comics. No one would sell comic books just to lose money. They would be thrown in the trash to be recycled like the newspaper without some kind of value added to them.

looks good to me... PSA has a great reputation, and thats not hyperbole :) personally im ready for a fresh company with an established history. ive had some not good experiences with the current grading companies. i wont get another book graded by any of them. If PSA grades the book and sells it for you remotely?? that sounds good to me. The only question is, are they going to charge you the value of the book to do it?? Thats how the current grading system works.. they take most of the value of the book.. screw that
