AJ got clipped early and never recovered. That is exactly the same situation as what happened after Ruiz caught him - any heavyweight can get their bell rung. AJ is still the top ranked IBF contender. If he wants to fight Dubois, the fight will be made. Wilder is done and there is no money in that fight. AJ fights Dubois, or he fights the loser of Fury/Usyk and then goes for all the belts there and fights Dubois (or whoever beats Dubois) for the IBF belt to unify the titles. Or he retires. There’s no need for him to do anything else and he is still above Dubois in the other belt rankings and makes more gate revenue than Dubois will, as he has far more support.

Eddie is very good at massaging the words, no question. What I didn't like about that interview was Eddie's belief that AJ should wait until 12/21 to see what happens between Usyk and Fury, and hoping that Fury wins so he could make a "voluntary defense" against AJ...as if Fury was so open to doing that before when he was undefeated and had one belt. I can only imagine how insufferable he would be with a win against Usyk and the majority of the belts in his possession. And who's to say Dubois wouldn't want to challenge him for undisputed himself, because he would have every right to over AJ, and you know Frank would want that so it could be an all Queensbury affair with Matchroom cut out completely. In my opinion, given the way in which AJ was defeated on Saturday, his sole focus should be on rematching Dubois and getting the opportunity to make right what he did wrong on Saturday, because he can't have the nature of that defeat continually hanging over his head. You can talk about AJ not having a right to a rematch and that other young fighters should have an opportunity to challenge Dubois (and perhaps that's true), but other young fighters aren't necessarily going to put butts into seats and money into a bunch of people's pockets as much as AJ does. That's just a fact, and if there's one thing Turki is going to look for is a return on his investment. And honestly, given the fact that Turki has wanted an AJ/Fury fight for the longest time that you can practically taste it, I'd use that to my advantage if I were Team AJ because that's probably the only real bit of leverage that they have. If AJ gets a rematch with Dubois (and can play to Turki's desire so he throw a bunch of money at Dubois and finance the whole thing), makes the necessary adjustments and beats him, he could go into a future Fury fight an IBF champ. If Fury beats Usyk, Turki can finally set up the AJ/Fury undisputed championship match of his dreams. Yet if Fury loses, a match with AJ would still make money (granted AJ beats Dubois in a rematch) because you could throw a bunch of money to Fury and market it as a chance for Fury to challenge for the IBF title and potentially retire as an IBF champion. However, I don't think a future AJ/Fury fight would make quite as much money (or sense) if BOTH of them end up losing, particularly since if they both end up losing to their opponent in a rematch, there wouldn't be much left to do but retire, in my opinion. They couldn't fight under the premise of who would be the best British fighter, because it wouldn't be either of the two of them anyway. That's why I think he should try and lock down a Dubois rematch as soon as possible because it would make a future fight with Fury more likely if he wins...and potentially STILL likely even if he doesn't but Fury wins, because in large part all Turki has every really seemed to care about is seeing the two of them fight. I thought about Jarrell Miller and had similar thoughts about a potential AJ fight with him too. If he couldn't get a rematch with Dubois right away (which should be his first choice), I wouldn't mind seeing that as AJ's next fight. I think I would be more interested in seeing that rather than a Fury/AJ fight to be honest. Given the unresolved beef the two have, it could potentially be perfect for AJ as a way to fight someone Dubois has also fought and potentially make a statement if he's able to put him down in a similar way or better than Dubois did. Furthermore, Jarrell would be far from a light touch for him. And just as importantly, you know it would be entertaining leading up to and during the fight. So it makes sense in a lot of ways.
