Growing up in a Protestant family in Utah, we were told by our Mormon neighbors that the reason they didn't wear crossed, didn't put their hands together when praying (folding their arms instead), and no steeples on churches was because they were all symbols of the church in apostasy. How times change .

It looks like Casa Bonita. Is the baptismal font going to be a lagoon with cliff divers?

There is no spire or tower on the Mesa Arizona temple. So when did these rules come into play.

I have a video about the evolution of the phallic symbol from paganism that became church spires.

I previously resided in North Texas and Fairview is a nice neighborhood. They are conservative for sure - but they aren't as enamored with Utah bigwigs - like other parts of the country - I assume! And I"m not Mormon - but are there enough congregants to fill a church of that size in Fairview???

A temple isn’t the same as their regular churches. Temples are for the LDS church’s super secret ceremonies (endowments and baptisms for the dead). They only need a skeleton crew, enough people to do a few baptisms a year.

It's a Temple not a chapel. They already have a chapel in Fairview. We don't have very many Temples in Texas. There are separate Sacred ordinances that are performed by members from surrounding regions. This Temple is really needed because of the amount of members that live in Texas and the Temples we already have already are not able to handle the current work load to perform specific holy ordinances that are necessary for members. These ordinances cannot be performed in chapels.

I hope that helps you understand a bit more of the members perspectives as well as the church.

@@limasierraone7107 if a temple is so desperately needed, you would figure out a way to build a temple that complies with legal zoning ordinances. But you would rather bully small towns into giant monuments to your church’s wealth.

That is a hideous building. The spire doesn’t fit the rest of the temple!!!!

I would prefer it if that one guy would just stop making comments when she speaks. They're so cringeworthy and never helpful, especially when he wants to say something sexual. 🤮 Otherwise, this was useful information!

Gee.... I must come to see the temple, especially the water feature at the top of the spire -- does it run every 15 minutes? COME TO THIS TEMPLE EVERYONE!! Lest the temple come on, er to, you.
