WQAD ran a story reporting climate models predict climate change will make various types of weather events worse, titled “Climate change is spiking frequency, intensity of severe weather.” The story is misleading in couple of ways. First, although the title suggests climate change is already acting to make extreme weather worse, the story itself focuses on predictions for the future based on climate models, not current trends. Indeed, data does not support the claim that climate change has increased the frequency or intensity of tornadoes, thunderstorms, derechos, or snowstorms. Secondly, the climate models predicting that weather will become more extreme, are seriously flawed. They don’t reflect past or present temperatures accurately so their predictions of future climate should not be trusted. READ THAT LAST SENTENCE AGAIN AND AGAIN UNTIL YOU UNDERSTAND WHAT WAS SAID !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And that information is all over the place. The climate is behaving normally for a solar maximum at the end of an interglacial warm period. China seems to be preparing for the dramatic drop in temperatures that will occur at the end of this period, which can occur at any time. This is what we should be doing in the West, but we are doing the opposite. Why? In fact, looking at past cycles (ref: Greenland ice cores), we are already past the expected end of the current cycle. CO2 is not a problem - plant cover has increased by 15% (re: NASA) and crop yields are at record levels (ref: farmers all over the world). By the way, the number of deaths from "extreme weather events" is the lowest since the 1920s, when records began - Granholm is not being truthful (ref: Our World in Data).
