EV's in the military? Of course, the US Army asked for a prototype when Russia photographed a 40 mile truck convoy in the Ukraine out of fuel. "The Army last October stated it was ready to begin prototyping of a future Electric Light Reconnaissance Vehicle, or eLRV, which would, if an all-electric design is chosen, be alone in the running for first tactical EV in the U.S. fleet. Now wouldn't that be a feat for the US? War has changed so much in the last 50 years. What it does show is how small minded all of you nay-sayers are? Our world has changed so much in the last 25 years. They wont endanger soldiers lives by using eLRV's in war.

The packs are shipped to a facility specializing in battery disassembly and recycling their components. Certain parts are easy: steel, copper, and aluminum scrap metal usually go into the nationwide metals-recycling stream. The plastics may not be recyclable, but they’re a small proportion of the total contents of an EV battery pack." How are gas driven vehicles batteries deposed? Their average life span is 5 years for gas driven. The average life of a EV battery is 10 years. However, those batteries cost a lot more.

Fossil fuels are portable, can be brought to the vehicle and put into vehicles in a matter of minutes. EVs are tied to the nearest charging station. An EV runs out of power and the charging station must be brought to it. How does that work? This sustainable crap is making select people a lot of money at the expense of the taxpaying public.

The problem with electric vehicles is so insanely easy to fix... The problem is, they're taking a frame meant for a gasoline engine, they take out all of the analog components and replace them with digital ones. Electric cars are not as powerful as gasoline cars. Their power mostly depends on their charge level. Electric vehicles shouldn't weigh much more than a golf cart. Redesign the entire thing. Make them carry 1 or two people, max. Make the battery changeable. Why pull up to a charger and stick a wire in your car for 18 hours when you could spend 5 minutes replacing the battery? The entire thing is bullshit designed by bullshit people so they can make some bullshit money.

This is shortsighted and silly. Why shouldn't military bases have a handful of EV charging ports? Some people might want them for their personal vehicles. Also for civilians who work on base. She is mischaracterizing the issue. Also, EVs would be fine for say MPs patrolling the base. Clearly not for tanks or fighting vehicles though - which absolutely no one is proposing anyway.

I know that I’ve seen this in a movie at some point, but here goes. There’s this guy driving his brand new Ford down the road and he gets stuck in a muddy rut when a couple kids on horseback happen by and start laughing while saying “What a crazy stupid thing that guy Henry Ford has come up with”. Now, I’ll probably never buy an EV. But the world is ever changing. Sure, there’ll be some Beta Max’s, or even short lived 8-tracks. Time will work it out. But different, it will definitely be.

I work for a major airline.....one night I brought a bag for a passenger on Air New Zealand. The aircraft, a "Wide Body" Boeing 787 was being fueled and I noticed one of their employees talking to the fueler. I started a conversation with him about fuel burn on this aircraft. This aircraft carries 300 people and a ridiculous amount of cargo. He told me that this aircraft was amazing at how little fuel it burn as a wide body aircraft. He told me the flight was 15 hours and they would burn about 30 metric tons. I went home and did the math and was amazed......close to 21.000 gallons! It had already flown here so it burned at least that much already so at least 42,000 gallons of jet fuel in 24 hours......one aircraft! Emirates flies here every day from Dubai, I've read they burn 84,000 gallons each way. every day!. There are 100,000 airline flights flown every day across the globe. There are also a huge amount of cargo planes and military aircraft flown each day. All of these are putting their solution directly into the upper atmosphere. What really amazing is these aircraft are mostly very modern and burn less than ever........what is really a huge fuel burner are ships! Cruise ships, Cargo ships;, Military ships! I read once that the Queen Mary burned a gallon of diesel to travel 49 inches!!!! But the big concern from the politicians is about how much we citizens burn in our cars which has become less every year of my 70 year life because of how much more efficient vehicles are today. By the way, Air Force One....the President's 747 burns 25,000 gallons an hour! I haven't seen any President that slowed down their travel plans to help save the planet. Obama would fly to Hawaii every year for vacation. He even interrupted a vacation to fly back to Washington D.C. for a vote and flew back to Hawaii to continue his vacation. Do as I say, not as I do mentality.

Do these people understand, electric autos drain the batteries when the are not being used. The battery pack has to stay at a normal operating temp. that means heating or cooling the batteries 24/7 using up to 7% of battery charge daily ... How much fuel dose gas or diesel use while sitting. ?? The last surplus military vehicle i purchased was 10yrs old but only had 21,000 miles on it.

EVS are wrong all around, they even have challenges moving through different types of terrain, they're heavier they can't tow anything if they do tell anything it's going to use up more power requiring more frequent charges which they ain't going to have any way to power them up or charge them out in the field. That means you can't go autonomous or out on your own with your vehicle and not have a way to charge your vehicle, there's not going to be a filling station for electric vehicles out in the field. Meanwhile the enemy running their gas vehicles are going to ride right over the top of us.

EV's have there place. Yet, it certainly is not in the military. One of the major factors in the decline of EV sales in passenger vehicles is that everyone(especially insurance companies) are realizing that any physical damage to an EV battery causes the vehicles to be 'totaled.' It is simply not worth it for insurance companies to take the risk of a damaged Lithium Ion battery catching on fire and possibly killing someone or burning down their home. The idea that military vehicles could be charged in a localized area of combat is absurd. And an enemy could completely cripple the U.S. Military with a single strike on any charging stations. Charging stations that require significant time and resources to build compared to the construction and maintenance of fossil fuel storage. Should the U.S. Military actually adopt widespread EV's, they will quickly realize their mistake the first time a TikTok video is made of a group of U.S. soldiers being incinerated in their own vehicles due to the nature of Lithium Ion fires.
