They should start a line of “event epics” In which they would collect big stories such as civil war including tie in issues.

It seems the Modern Era Epics are almost entirely focusing on characters or groups either already well established in modern TV/film, or that have upcoming TV shows or movies. With this in mind, I wouldn't be too shocked if the next batch of announcements exclusively feature Modern Era Epic Collections from the already existing lines and the following list: Scarlet Witch, Vision, Ant-Man, Doctor Strange, Spider-Man (Peter Parker), Spider-Man (Miles Morales), Black Panther, Captain Marvel, Shang-Chi, Eternals, Moon Knight, Ms. Marvel, She-Hulk, Ironheart, Spider-Man 2099, Thunderbolts, Blade, and the Fantastic Four. A lot of those already have Complete Collections which Marvel can just rebrand (e.g. Scarlet Witch by James Robinson and Astonishing Ant-Man Complete Collection). X-title Modern Era Epics probably won't be announced until the X-Men are officially confirmed be coming to the MCU.

The talk of Golden Age Marvel comics got me excited. Most of them may be on the obscure side, but I think there’ll still be a big audience for the “big three” (Cap, Namor, Torch). The Epic Collection format would make these a lot more readable, as opposed to the omnibus releases that compile the entire anthology comics. Restoration is the big issue; even 80s/90s digital restorations look very outdated and not representative of the original era. There’s obviously no negatives to work from, so you’re mainly limited to the best surviving prints to scan.

The 2 Epics I'm excited to get is Avengers Epic Vol. 11, that means Vol.12 will give us She-Hulk joining the Avengers!!! And the 2nd Epic I'm excited to see coming is the She-Hulk Epic Vol.6!!! None of these issues have been reprinted into collected editions. I'm just sad I have to wait until July 2024.

The 2 New Avengers modern epics aren't the only copy/paste jobs from complete collections. That modern Hulk volume has exactly the same content as Hulk by Jeff Loeb complete collection v1. v2 has Hulk 13-24 & Fall of the Hulks: Gamma 1

If they were trying to bury him they wouldn't be licensing every possible product under the sun featuring his logo. Just when I thought that Marvel was doing a great job on these Modern Epics... Very disappointed in excluding Civil War. It's an Avengers story... Omar made a great point in an earlier stream that Secret War should have been in volume 1. Repercussions from that story happen in this series. How do you not include that either? I've been buying everything for the classic line, but after this I will only be collecting a few of the modern volumes. They really dropped the ball on this mapping by just copy/pasting the complete collections.

Most of the Modern Era Epic Collections are just rebranded reprints of existing Ultimate/Complete Collections. Regarding USAgent Epic Collection, they already appended his stories to the Captain America series, even his own limited series. I think they only could have squeaked out one or two volumes if they included all the backup issues and the limited series (and some featured Captain America and Avengers West Coast volumes)

World War Hulk isn’t like any other preceding event crossover because it’s very strongly based around one character, and it’s impossible to follow that character’s arc without that series. I have a hard time imagining that all Hulk product from 1- on would fit into five volumes. There would be annuals, specials, miniseries (like Nightmerica) crossover issues, and tons of other stuff to fit in. Plus it would be weird to have that big gap between one character’s last epic and another’s first modern as there would be for Cap and Hilk.

Hulk Modern Era Epics Vol. 1 - 5 would have to be well over 600 pages each to start from issue #1 of the 1999 Hulk series. This would mean the "classic" Incredible Hulk Epic Collections would need to collect up to the end of Bruce Jones run at Incredible Hulk (2000) #76, which'd be something like 5 or 6 more volumes.

This Modern Era Epic is essentially a rebranded reprint of Hulk by Jeph Loeb Complete Collection Vol. 1, which has 432 pages. It's a bit more complicated than having "just 15 issues" because between the material from Incredible Hulk #600 and King-Size Hulk is equivalent to more than 4 regular issues, while the material from Wolverine #50 is equivalent to about half a regular issue.

This is why people don’t read Western Comics, the fact that it’s a struggle to create labeled, numbered, chronological volumes is just a staggering failure Who cares if it’s weird, or a little bloated or is constantly cutting back and forth. The fact that you will have to put this volume down, pick up a tpb of Civil War, look at a reading guide online to know how many issues of Civil War to read, then put that book back down and pick up this New Avengers Epic again and then rinse and repeat just means the collections department did a terrible job Again, I don’t want to sound disrespectful for the work they put in, and obviously there’s master lists that dictate how collections are done, but this stuff boils my blood, it shouldn’t be this hard to read comics
