When the announcement of the discovery of the Mount Ebal Curse Tablet was made in 2022, it sent shock waves through the archaeological community. It was met by many with extreme excitement and by many others with heavy skepticism. Dr. Scott Stripling, the Head of Excavations at the Associates for Biblical Research and his team, asserted that this folded lead tablet contained the earliest known "proto-alphabetic" Hebrew text. The inscription, which they date to the end of the Late Bronze Age II (c. 1400 - 1200 B.C.E.), is a legal text and curse that invokes the god Yahweh. The team believes the tablet to be one of the most important inscriptions ever found in Israel and one that could drastically alter our reconstruction of ancient Israel’s earliest history. But after waiting nearly a year for the official peer-review process to complete, many began to doubt the validity of the find. Until today...

I find it incredible that anyone challenges Moses' ability to read and write... - he spoke and wrote several languages most like growing up in the house of the Pharoah, side by side with his children.

Absolutely! No doubt, somewhere down the line Moses would have been able to rule Egypt if necessity had required it! At the very least, he took the whole nation of Israel on the longest camping trip ever recorded, all while being pursued by the most powerful army in the world at the time. God bless you my friend.

@joshuakarr9492 Yes, I agree. What are your thoughts on the pre - and post-Babel Adomic language? Do you think the Hebrews (Abraham's line) were speaking a version of the very first language that Adam spoke? Or do you think at Babel, the language that Abraham spoke began? I believe the Hebrew script, in whatever of its earliest form, was the first, as literal word for word as the Bible tells us the world's timeline is
@joshuakarr-BibleMan

@@SirMillz I can't even guess, really. It is very romantic, or spiritual, or uplifting, to imagine Ancient Hebrew is the one undefiled language, as if to say not only does God protect His word for all time, but He even protects the words He used to say it. There just isn't evidence either way though, so it really is outside the circle of things we can say are so.

Someone else has probably brought this up, but Moses was a prince of Egypt. It's unthinkable that he wouldn't have been taught to read and write, and quite possibly in several languages, even if it was only a working knowledge of those languages. How can anyone say he was illiterate? I think it very likely he would have taught others to read and write on their travels; let's face it, they had enough time to do it. Of course this only applies if a person believes that he actually existed, which I do. I would love for this to be exactly what is claimed, and am tilting heavily towards it being what it appears to be, but would like to see a bit more evidence. I must say I'm not convinced by some of the obviously biased comments made by some critics.

It is only said about Moses to discredit him. Read about him in Josephus and in the book of Jasher. In those days it is said that Pharoah had to know the languages of the 70 nations. So for a son that was considered a prince of Egypt to be uneducated would come from a statement of strange reason.

@@cyberskull7314 When discussing historical events and their correlation with biblical prophecies, it's important to approach the topic with an open mind and recognize that interpretations can vary. Here are some perspectives that can be considered when addressing the claim that Nebuchadnezzar never conquered Egypt as prophesied in Jeremiah 43:9-13: Symbolic interpretation: Some scholars suggest that prophecies in the Bible can have symbolic or metaphorical meanings rather than literal ones. In this case, Nebuchadnezzar's conquest of Egypt may be seen as a symbolic representation of his dominance over neighboring territories, including those connected to Egypt. Timing and historical gaps: It's possible that historical records have gaps or inaccuracies, making it difficult to establish a precise timeline of events. While there is no definitive evidence of Nebuchadnezzar's conquest of Egypt, it is plausible that such an event occurred but is currently undocumented or not yet discovered. Limited historical documentation: It's worth noting that the historical records from ancient civilizations can be fragmented or incomplete. Our understanding of these events relies on archaeological discoveries and available texts, which may not provide a comprehensive account of Nebuchadnezzar's conquests. Therefore, the absence of explicit historical evidence doesn't necessarily invalidate the fulfillment of the prophecy. Prophecy fulfillment through indirect means: It's possible that Nebuchadnezzar's actions indirectly influenced the fate of Egypt without engaging in a direct military conquest. Economic and political dominance, alliances, or other forms of influence could have brought about the fulfillment of the prophecy, even if a traditional military conquest did not occur. Multiple interpretations: The interpretation and fulfillment of biblical prophecies can vary among scholars and religious traditions. Some individuals may interpret the prophecy in Jeremiah 43:9-13 differently, associating it with events that align with their own understanding of historical occurrences or spiritual symbolism.

I've said for years now that the Name of the Most High El "YHWH" is pronounced "Yahu." At 2:44, 14:44 and 14:50 Dr. Stripling pronounces this Name as "Yahu." Beyond the Egyptian inscription at the Temple in Soleb, the second oldest known transliteration to exist confirming the Most High El's Name as "Yahu" comes from pieces of the Greek Septuagint found among the Dead Sea Scrolls. It has "IAO." All praise to the Creator of heaven and earth, "Yahu" !!! All Truth is being revealed to us in these final days!! Hallelu-YAHU !!!
@tdreha2393
@tdreha2393 Жыл бұрын
@@Bimfirestarter I agree the Greek IAO is pronounced YahO. Although YHH (Yah) is used in Elephantine papyri so is YHW (YahU). I have to disagree with you on your other point. According to Parkhurst's Hebrew and English Lexicon Without Points (8th Ed.), in the "Hebrew Grammar" section (Pg. 5), next to the letter "Vau" it states: "u, pronounced as 00, or as the French ou, or (before a vowel) w." The letter currently called "Vav" is a "double" U (UU), i.e. "W". (See Parkhurst above.) This letter has always been a long "ooo" sound. This is further evidenced by the numerous Hebrew names. YeshayahU, MattityahU, etc., etc., etc.. As you're probably aware, the Hebrew H became the modern English letter E. An E (H) following the Vav (UU/W) never makes the sound an "O". It makes it a long "uuu/ooo" sound like "boooo". Again, see the Parkhurst citation "before a vowel" above.) The H is a vowel behind the W rendering it a long "ooo" sound. It sounds exactly the same both ways, YHW or YHWH. They're pronounced "YahU" / "Yahoo". Not YahO. Sorry friend, but I have to agree with Dr. Stripling. And he said "Yahu." 🙂

@@Silvercrypto-xk4zy I'm sorry, but what? Heritage is a hack publication that makes a bad habit of releasing purely speculative studies that haven't been peer reviewed and even worse in this case; hasn't got a clear line of authenicity of sedimentary layers to even add to it's dating. Have you even seen the imaginary line used to claim it makes a phrase? I blind, child with a physical twitch would have made a less convoluted line. As for your claim of peer review. It wasn't even shown to the regular archeological channels for verifcation and actual expert analysis. The moment it was viewed by the eminent experts ( including theists ) in the field, it was laughed at as one of the worst examples of wishful thinking in decades. This suppoed finding is now the new example of bad faith reporting that eclipses the travesty that was Andrew Wakefields Lancet pre study for his autism and vaccine claims. Would you trust a hard ore leftist university to make a claim about the veracity of a biblical text? Even if it's staff were under a contract of skepticism that meant they are obligated to make a naturalistic claim, even if presented with irrefutable evidence of god? Since you are allowing the same thing to occur in reverse, by acceptng post hoc rationales from those who's institutions have them bound by a contrct of faith that states they can not release any report that does not support the god hypothesis held by their employer.

I would like to explore a minor issue without starting a massive argument. Historically, the letter "W" wasn't invented until around 1700. For thousands of years the double "U,U" was used. Many, especially in America believe The name given in Exodus 3:15 was Yahweh. Yet many Scholars say the name is Yahuah or Yahuuah. Now I read a good portion of what was published about the "curse tablet". My question is, how do you get a Letter "W" out of this pictorial language ?

I've read that the Samaritans continued using a form of the proto-Caananite type script even after the Jews stopped using it (in favor of the "assyrian script" aka the Aramaic script, with "square" letters, like modern Hebrew), even into the Middle Ages, and obviously Schechem is Samaria. Do the letterforms really rule out that it was made and deposited at a later date (a date more typical of defixios) by Samaritans? This is fascinating news and I'm cautiously optimistic to believe Dr Stripling about it but i'd like to see some debate about it happen in public to test it. Clearly the peer-reviewed publication is a huge accomplishment.

@appianmedia 9 ай бұрын
It really doesn’t. We know that there are compelling reasons for a few different sites for Mt. Sinai, the exact crossing of the Red Sea, and other locations pertaining to the Exodus. This debate has been raging for centuries and likely will continue to do so, because despite what many will say - no one knows for sure. Identifying these specific sites is not the goal of our current documentary series, but rather to highlight the biblical historical account of the Exodus and what it means to each of us today. We pray that it will be a blessing to you!

Amazing that Stripling found and made public The Name of YAHWEH yet he still uses the 'watered-down' substitute name of The LORD! re: 'Thirds'- yess- societies are very divided and Israel and Jew's & Christian's particularly as people feel before they think too much of the time. I too hope your discoveries end up in The Israeli museum for ALL to see!

It would be great if this discovery were true, but it appears that as of now, the peer review process is not favorable to Dr. Stripling. Other experts are simply not seeing any discernable letters in the images. Christians can hold fast to their faith while remaining skeptical of these types of "discoveries".

@DrKippDavis
@DrKippDavis Жыл бұрын
@@hambone4728 you should know that the vast majority of relevant experts from every side of the religious spectrum has concluded almost unanimously that there is no discernible text at all that can be seen in the scans of the object. There is wide agreement that Stripling and his team are just seeing what they want to see, and have basically deluded themselves into reading an inscription there. Most likely, what they construe as "letters" are actually just striations on the lead.
@hambone4728
@hambone4728 Жыл бұрын
@@DrKippDavis Interesting, can you send me a link to scholars saying this? Either an article or video? Having looked at the scans myself, obviously I have no idea what I'm seeing. But these "indentations" let's call them do appear to be man made (especially since many of them are dimpled out on the back face of the tablet). Add in the fact this format and style of being a defixio is well known in archeology in the near east and the site it was recovered from has been determined to be an ancient religious site with Hebrew characteristics.....it seems possible doesn't it?

Great that YHWH makes things appear to us in the right timing, like also the dead sea scrolls. But besides reading the text and dating it, it is important to note that we got this tablet now and that it is the curse tablet, not the blessing tablet. The Torah and study tools has been made available to us like never before. If we do not read it, it is on us! Rabbinic Judaism is reading their Talmud instead of Torah, and a lot of Christians are not reading anything at all, and do not even know what God they believe in.

It can't be from Moses time, 5500 BCE. The earliest date for these tablets is 1400 BCE. This is the time of David or the Judges, not Moses. One of the most common images used contains the letters, gimel, noon, kaf. These three letters make up the Russian form of the word for Priest. Were there any Russians working on the dig?
@appianmedia

Although the exact dates of the Exodus of Moses are debated, you will not find anyone to suggest that it occurred nearly as late as 5,500 BCE. Most scholars place the date between the 13th and 12th century BCE.

@@appianmedia This is because of Egyptology. But this is all New Kingdom perspectives, 95% of their knowledge. Moses existence is further back in time, Old Kingdom, which comprises only 5% of their knowledge. Their are other methods to prove this. God instructed Moses to tell all the nations in the world at that time. Moses sent emissaries to each nation. Which nations have written histories going back far enough beyond the 13th century? One nation is China. Bamboo Annals contain a written record, 16 or 17th century BCE, mentioning a Hebraic religious system, Shang Di. This historian traced his information to the first emperor, 2600 BCE. Copper mine cave epigraphy, Hebrew inscription, near Red Sea, dated to 1800 BCE. Reads, "EL plowed on the water." א ל ז מ ע ל (At an earlier time individual letters were words.) The individual who carved these words was either an eyewitness to the event or a later pilgrim visiting the crossing site. Chinese pictograms contain Biblical content as the formation of the letters. The creation of Chinese character glyphs is attributed to the first emperor, 2600 BCE. Though I haven't researched yet, I would expect similar content in the written histories of India, receiving emissaries from Moses, which would provide evidence that would support a Moses time of existence pre 2600 BCE. My position is not a guess. There is evidence that points to an earlier date for Moses existence.

@@davissalaki8703 There is no evidence for Moses in the New Kingdom period of Egyptology. Therefore, critics of Moses based systems state there is no evidence that Moses existed.
