Have you asked them if they're going to use those stupid borders with the garish colors and logos on every single page like the Gallery Editions? Because those suck. I would rather the trim size be smaller instead of artificially bigger with distracting borders.

I am pleased to see Marvel expanding their library selections, but the only thing that stops me from collecting these is my bookcase size. I only have a few shelves that properly display my few absolute editions I own, and I'm not rebuying shelves to hold this new format no matter how enticing the subject matter. I am happy for those who will enjoy these.

I find this exciting but like DC’s Absolutes I’m going to be picky with what I decide to get in this format over an omni. I would def consider picking up something like Kraven’s Last Hunt or Armor Wars in this format.

As a big advocate and collector of the Gallery Editions, Treasury Editions, and now-defunct Monster XXL Editions, this is a very welcome announcement! My only possible gripe will be if the price point jumps from the standard 40-50USD, now up to 100USD. Regardless, keep em coming, Marvel!

These books wont be able to get shipped media mail... due to them having ads in them. Thats something important to note. If a person does ship it media mail and it gets found out most likely the person recieving the book will get hit with a postage due. The postage due would be the difference between media and the regular shipping price. This is squarely because of it having ads, but this is something interesting having a blast from the past.

I love the choice to use matte paper stock and the format (Gallery Edition's size and page count are my favorites), but, why, oh why, this stupid decision of including the original ads? I couldn't care less about ads, especially old ones. Ditch the ads and I'll buy those, Marvel. Keep the ads and it's a hard pass for me.

Matte paper is a great approach. As I get older, my appreciation for larger formats increases too. I’m not getting either of these two, but it’s just a matter of time before they come out with something that hits the nostalgia for me. Along those lines, including the ads is also a great move. I’m looking forward to getting one once they start doing my childhood comics from the 70s.

I’m with you. I was really hoping this would be a variation on the Absolute line. Start with The Vision by King and Walta. But I also know this is going to be a really exciting thing for fans and preservationists.

interesting collection! mate oversized paper sounds like a great idea. Not sure about the ads, but the letter pages and bullpens are always a nice look at the state of the marvel era of a particular time period. My only concern is the price. I'm sure these will be pretty expensive.

I’ve been getting some facsimilies from DC and Marvel and they are awesome. Since they got these scans (most of all the original coloring) i dont see why they wouldn’t print the omnibus edition with these scans (minus the original ads, as they are collected edition). I am collecting COIE floppies, and it’s really cool to see the original coloring.

Let's hope that they fix the coloring error from ASM 253 which was CREATED for the Marvel Masterworks where they color Spider-Man's fingertips blue rather than flesh color. The Complete Alien Costume Saga trade didn't have that error. The Facsimile Edition of 253 had the same error as the Marvel Masterworks.

Explains why Marvel has been releasing a ton of fascimile editions with variant covers of late. Actually own much of the original issues of Secret Wars so that's a maybe. The Alien Costume Spidey is tempting; however the book size may be much too large for my tastes. Not sure which storylines to recommend since it seems to be a twelve issue page count format..

I'll admit, the Omnibuses, the Marvel Masterworks, and the Marvel Masterpieces are great books on some of our favorite Marvel heroes. But I'm sticking to Collected Editions, Epic Collections, and the Modern Era Epic Collections.

I would love to see an oversize Marvel Masterpiece edition of Secret War, the storyline when Nick Fury goes secretly with his recruited team to Latveria. The story was excellent and the artwork superb, really deserving of the larger format.

For me to buy one, it would have to be a major event/story that changed the course of a book. Mutant Genesis was mentioned. It should include the Muir Island Saga then UXM 281, 282, X-FACTOR 71, 72 X-MEN 1-3, NEW MUTANTS 98-100 and X-Force 1.

Thanks for the video but not for me. I can appreciate nostalgia but including the adds is an issue. I looked at the Spider-Man issues and 252 has the cover and 22 pages of story along with a Bullpen Bulletins page, Letters Page, Subscription Page and then 10 pages of ads for other companies. That means the 432 page hardcover will be about 120 pages of ads, some of which would be duplicated each month in different issues.

This should make it interesting as small online retailers find out if they can send it by USPS media mail. I remember getting a note in my package from Organic Price Books explaining that the omnibus could be sent by media mail since it didn’t contain advertisements. If it contained ads, another method of shipment is required. Do the reproduction ads in Marvel Masterpieces count?

Yes, any ad no matter how old counts as far as USPS is concerned. You cannot ship any old magazines or comics containing ads via media mail, and these will work the same way. Another reason I will not be buying these, amongst many others.

My critique of the gallery edition is they waste a lot of page real estate on this odd trade dress that is on every page of the interiors. To the point that the actual page area with artwork is only slightly bigger than a standard tpb.

Jeebers, I just bought the MSHSW omnibus over the weekend. (Which has an extra four stories.) So basically, this is follow on collected editions of the two running facsimile series this year. I think I'd honestly rather stick with the floppies since they recreate the experience of their original series. If Marvel's doing another one, I'd say they need to do the complete Byrne/Claremont X-Men. I think 4-5 of those issues are already in facsimile format.
