the original game didn't have hero protection vs monk conversion. but does he have a functional copy of age of kings and something to play it on.

@@zebfirehd9102 He actually tried that in the original video of the Genghis Khan campaign. To sum it up in order to get monks in that scenario, you have to kill some cavalry archers to get your starting base and villagers.

I don't know of a full mod for the original voice acting, but there's probably one out there if you look for it. I just copied the mp3 files from the HD Edition, converted them to wav, and then to the WEM format DE uses by following this guide: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aWqylpVqfNure8U Edit: actually I found a mod that looks like it gives the original voice acting: www.ageofempires.com/mods/details/21908/

I SWEAR TO GOD I managed to leave the tournament with mounted El Cid in the legacy version when I was a kid and had no clue why it let me out without failing. I could also not read English very well at that time. But later I headed to the city and got banished. If the trigger also worked like that in the old version, then it makes complete sense that it may have happened by accident.

That's actually amazing. I remember the time I figured out how to get the entire Hun army in the first mission. My English was very bad at that time and didn't really understand all the triggers, but at least that was easy to replicate. I never thought about trying this with El Cid.

It happened to me once years ago and I could never reproduce it. But once I understood how the game checked the triggers and saw it was only a narrow area, it made sense.

Well, with speed of 1.32 tiles/s, if you happen to cross the boundary perpendicularly, there is a 1 - 1/1.32 = 24% chance you get through even if you don't try to time it

I‘d be very intrigued to see the Pacifist ways of newer campaigns as well as I‘m currently on my slow and steady playthrough of all of them. I'll have to play around with what exactly the condition is, and whether being garrisoned counts. On the way back though I didn't even have to time it. You garrison from about 1 tile away. I'm not sure if El Cid even touches the area when he hops in.

Interesting. Cell triggers also exist on the Command and Conquer series up to the first two generations (Tiberium Dawn, Red Alert. Tiberian Sun, Red Alert 2 - these are grid-based systems running on variants of the same engine). Although not specifically exploiting the in-game timer, you can sometimes move infantry to skip over a 1-tile wide trigger line. Which is why most triggers use at least 2-tile widths for safety.

Holy monastery! The madlad did it! Can't wait for FE to patch that -_- I remember that one historical mission "Dos Pilas" where you have to defend against the enemy but eventually failed. I resisted the whole time defending the gate figured that is the trigger for surrendering. And take out the enemy city since they're not producing anything, other than spawning endless group to my town. Now event fires of without destroying the gate. They figured people willing to play more than two hours plus, just to circumvent the intended objective 😂

I've noticed that triggers only check conditions every second while trying to time villager actions to match voice over dialogue. It doesn't work very well. It's easier to just manually control them.

When you showed the screen with the tower, it was immediately clear to me that this might do the trick. I have seen so many tower tricks, wall hopping tricks and taking advantage of that 1/2 field that the units teleport when exiting a building. By the way, why didn't you simply build the tower on the trigger box? This should speed up the process even more and allow you to jump in tiny fraction of a second, depending on how fast you can pause and unpause the game.
