I don't have a problem with what Ionescu said, I just don't see it as a dis on Clark or the team. In fact, the reporter tried to lead Ionescu by claiming that N.Y. didn't play Liberty basketball and Ionescu quickly shot that down by saying they did play Liberty basketball. In essence Ionescu was saying, we brought our A-game but the Fever were hungry for this win, and they stepped up today. and yes, the ROTY is over, and I don't believe for one second that this will be the last of Clark's Triple Doubles this year.
@dabneyoffermein5953 ай бұрын
right now, Reese leads in ROTY rankings, I'm not even sure if Clark is #2 in those same rankings. But go to ESPN and you'll see what I'm talking about. Clark didn't even have 20 points today, I believe Reese had close to 30 her last game and I'm sure she had 15 rebounds, which is her norm. I think Clark will have to improve her shooting % to have a chance, and I just am not sure if she can do that, probably not enough games left for that. Add up her last 3 games 3 point shooting % and it's probably cringe-worthy. But I still like her game, don't get me wrong. She's an elite passer, which I knew she could pass well in college, but I didn't think it would translate over due to the tougher defense she faces, as far as assists go, it really hasn't been hard for her. That's pretty impressive.

Not really that hard to believe that no other rookie has ever had a triple double if you just analyze those before,CC is a proven "Complete Player" the others were just Said to be complete players; numbers don't lie so please give CC her flowers,although it may be easier to just plant a garden for her... Talk about looking for hate when there is none, Ionescu's comments weren't that bad. In fact, the way the reporter framed the question, she was giving the Liberty an out (i.e., The Fever won b/c they weren't able to play "Liberty basketball") Ionescu didn't make excuses. Despite the term "Super Bowl" (which will trigger irrational CC fangirls), Ionescu's matter-of-fact response was largely complimentary of the Fever. Anyone who gets genuinely triggered is more emotional than rational.
@masonrieber86743 ай бұрын
I mean you shouldn't be triggered but anyone who claims that comment isn't a back handed insult doesn't know much about sports... That comment in NFL where it originated is used when discussing bottom tier teams that wont even make the playoffs. Obviously Liberty are the best team so far this year but the Fever are currently set to make the playoffs and have been getting much better. Literally saying they lost because "its hard to win 4 against a team" and saying that team won because it was "their super bowl" takes credit away from the fact they just got outplayed. Its basically saying they got lucky to win.
@MrROKinROK3 ай бұрын
@@masonrieber8674 Consider this hypothetical. In the Liberty locker room, the head coach is trying to hype up her team. She'd warn her players not to overlook an 8 & 13 team, especially one they had embarrassed in their last 3 meetings. She'd warn them that the Fever is still a WNBA team and their players have pride! "They'll be angry! They'll be hungry! They've circled this date on their calendar! This is their Super Bowl! Don't let your guard down. Let's go out there and play Liberty basketball!" [Obviously not intended as an insult.] It can be a term of art intended for rhetorical flourish. And like most such terms, it may not be a perfect analog intended to bear the scrutiny of being parsed down to its root meaning. The first post-game question asked of Christie Sides was prefaced as follows: "OBVIOUSLY, this is probably your biggest win-- most signature win of the season..." And Sides's response, in part, was as follows: "Yeah, first win against the Liberty. First win against the number one team... So proud of the players. They have been working TOWARD THIS MOMENT..." This was a huge game to their team. This was arguably the biggest game of the season. In a way, it could very well have been their Super Bowl. Look. Perhaps Ionescu did use it to toss some shade their way. Only she knows for sure. But even so, is that out of turn? She's talking about a 9 & 13 team. Is she supposed to say, "this was their Super Bowl... until they face us again in the WNBA finals"? If people get mad at her for that, they should go after the Vegas odds makers for daring to make the Fever +10,000 dogs to win the championship. "How dare you imply they won't make the finals!"

I'm not a wnba follower, and don't know much about the players or teams, but seeing Caitlin pop out on my feeds and seeing how humble, well spoken, down-to-earth, and a team oriented player, she seems like the whole package. She is a beast on the court too.

Caitlan Clark led her team back to a tie game by passing it to Mitchell for the assist with 2 minutes left, and Michelle and Boston drove it home for the win. They know it's a whole team effort.

Where was the bad take ? Did she say anything disrespectful… No Unless people are bowing at the feet of CC, JTL is throwing shots at them. Okay I get that it’s all about clicks, but come on bruh it’s just sounds crazy at this point. However I do believe CC has probably got the ROTY on 🔒 at this point. She’s playing great basketball! 👏🏽

Give her some grace. How good of a coach she is or is not can not be fairly and fully evaluated at this time and point in the season, and the Fever are getting better with every game. She might surprise you and end up being Coach of the Year.

I thought the comments made by the NY player, were very gracious. Not seeing the problem here. This is nothing compared to the out-right racism shown by some of the Black players on other teams.

It's interesting watching how some people are obviously growing as human beings during this WNBA season, and others just can't or don't want to grow or let go of their bigotry and put down their own racial animus. When you point the finger at others, three fingers are pointing back at you.

Those reporters just didn't want to give the Fever any credit at all. To me the reporters were the ones out of line. It was a hard fought contest. The Fever hung in there and got the win. Congratulations to the Indiana Fever. And congratulations to CC on her triple double.

MVP not! Many veterans have way better stats and Wilson is the bomb this year! Ionescu and Collier top notch too! Give it couple more years for that! Like 10 others are above her in performance stats!
@masonrieber86743 ай бұрын
@@Juke582 more like next year. She had no offseason for rest and you could CLEARLY see the disconnect in the team the first part of the season. They couldn't handle her passes, they didn't know what to expect from her and Boston / Mitchell were starting slow as far as hitting shots. She could have a legit shot at MVP next year if she has a good offseason with the team. Its a year to year award after all.

I don't think what Sabrina Ionescu said anything wrong. She is a great players as well and her team just lost the game so you have to understand they don't lose too many games since they are the number 1 team in the league right now. They made mistake just like the Fever. Fever just wanted to win and beat the number 1 team and Caitlyn Clark did amazing. Played well even if she did not make points in a full quarter. It shows great teamwork and the defense was great even with some mistakes. This is a game to rewatch and learn from for the Fever. They are improving every game. The Fever did amazing and Good job.
