In episode 3 or of this ongoing project I begin tackling the long and tedious task of detailing out all the base structures of this ruined city. Once again I severely underestimated the scope of work involved, such is the theme on this project.

i went to the dollar store to buy some super glue to repair a broken lamp, and when i got to the isle where glue was normally sold i saw jeremy manically shovelling packets into his pockets and a giant sack with a $ on it. when i went up to him and asked if he could save a packet for me, he hissed at me and tried to stab me with bits of broken sprue. fearing for my life i backed off and was about to accept defeat in my quest to repair my grandmothers lamp, until i saw a packet that had fallen onto the floor. i seized the opportunity but i caught the glare of jeremy. he threw multiple sets of gaming dice at my eyes, knocked me over and took the glue before jumping up the shelf and into a vent. overall a nice guy and a pleasant experience.

Coming along great. I think a lot of people see kits like this and think it's going to be quick to work with, you're really doing a service showing how much can go into a large project like this. Your eye for small details and extra bits that can be added are what bring this to the next level, really exciting to imagine how insanely detailed and cool this is going to be when it's all done. The painting is going to be a massive job!

Really enjoying this series so far, one way to possibly compromise and put the buildings on a base that you can fill in while still keeping it modular would be to have the base stop at the walls of the building and just be a ground floor. That way you can still push them right up next to each other or whatever while still having more area to detail.

I have no interest in building or playing with a Warhammer themed ruined city. However, I am absolutely loving this build series. It is showing me a lot of techniques and ideas to use in other builds, and surprisingly I am learning a new build philosophy which I think needs to be talked about more: The joy of the build process over the joy of the finished build. Of course, one must complete their crafting projects. No one feels empowered by a pile of terminally unfinished projects. This isn't what I'm talking about though. A build like your Necromunda city isn't only about rushing to finish it, and there is great value in enjoying the time you're spending on a build. Giving yourself the freedom to appreciate the creative process without obsessing over a deadline. I"m looking forward to future peeks into this build as you return to it over the coming months. Don't feel like you need to rush to complete this one for your audience. For THIS build, the journey is as important as the destination, and that's okay.

Man builds enough terrain to overfill a Kill Team or Necromunda board and notes that he isn't halfway through the structures . . . this may be the best ongoing series on the channel - because as I mentioned in a comment to your top 10 builds, you are engaged with the whole story behind the build. And the fact that it includes all sorts of quick little tips (bendy straw in paper straw is awesome) is a bonus. You are forgiven for stripping the 204 clean of super glue and epoxy . . .

There's something weirdly satisfying to destroy things for a piece! The amount of things I've burned, melted, crushed, or otherwise "Ruined" for a project is far too many to count! Just recently for a shipwreck build, I printed the ship, painted it up all nice, then unceremoniously crushed it under all of my weight, and snapped its keel. But, the result was exactly what I needed it to be!

A protentional option to get some rubble around the base of the buildings to get that more static feel is to focus it on the inside of the buildings. It may be possible if you put the buildings on some non stick parchment paper to build up mounds of rubble inside the buildings touching the walls using modelling compound, and once you peel them off the paper they should hopefully stick to the buildings and give you that rubble look without the need for a base.

Surprised myself at not being subscribed to you already! Made sure to fix that. I absolutely ADORE this series (as well as most of your videos!). It has always been my dream since I started this hobby to truly have my own terrain/settings/massive projects to call my own. I constantly hobby butterfly and bounce around WAY too often. Your dedication to this project has really helped me catch a side that I often miss, or at least overlook: Enjoying the process and really just letting passion for the hobby seep in and get to work. I always have goals or deadlines I try to work to because I want to be done so soon so I can play, but that mindset has led me to just...not have many finished projects. It all feels like too much time or effort or details, instead of seeing each bit as its own piece that will be fun by itself. Thank you for all the tips and tricks and inspiration and I CANNOT wait until this project is done, but I will wait, because you're right: It'll be worth the wait!
