The courage and vulnerability shown is courageous, I take my hate off to you, much respect. I will checkout your Socials and look to help as much as I can with a donation. something which keenan and yourself spanian have to offer that the youth workers don't, is simply, respect. a concept that has been used and abused these days, but our millions of years of evolved instincts are as primed as ever to engage with. these kids don't respect the typical social worker fairy whatsoever. i'm not one of these kids but i've know more than my share through my short enough life. i have family that has lived in housing commissions. one does not simply walk into that type of environment as a complete alien and help those in need through good intentions and meticulously constructed social justice plans. they need men (and women) who have grown up in similar environments as them, who truly just see kids growing up and trying to learn how to exist in this ridiculous world. because it's all they are. they're not anything else until labels these kids don't even understand are placed on them by adults who spent too long reading the wrong books. we are the most imitative species on the planet. these kid's don't need role models, they need men and women to look up to and learn from. i guess that used to mean the same thing. but really, spanian isn't a "role model". you don't want to end up like him. that's part of his message. part of the message the both of these guys send these kids without anyone putting a word on it. they are able to express the wisdom to these kids that "there are good things about you, that are like good things about me, strengths you have that are because of the environment you grew up in. but keep going down the route you're on and you will end up dead or worse. i'm the lucky one" and they GET IT. your average social worker or therapist from your typical middle class background would kill for this ability. another great podcast. keep it up mate.

@spanian I grew up in Geelong and used heroin there and in Melbourne in early 90s , when I was in rehab in Melbourne , I heard about Cabramatta where the caps were $25 . And available 24/7 at the train o , it was like going to Disney land for a junkie , I got pinched in dulwich hill walking down the road with a microwave I stole ha ha , and in a stolen car in marrickville , these pod casts bring back So many memories , I’ve used 6 months in 24 years now , I looked in the mirror to brother think I weighed about 50 kilo and got clean , looked like death , thanks for these podcasts - dunno about search I would call real

Keenan my bah. We got a similar story. I started doing well 3 years ago when I got out last time. Before that I had done 13 years all up. The longest out was 6 month's. The shortest time out was 2 days. I got out Moday morning and back in Wednesday arvo 😳. What changed? I got clean. Now I work, have savings and own 3 cars. Got my Ls at the age of 33, got my opens at 35. I'm probably the only one out of my group of mates from the 90s 2000s who changed in their 30s. The rest are in jail or dead. Don't be like us kids

It’s better to boom the mics off camera. In your set, I’d boom above since you’re using medium tele lenses. Your camera is focused on the mic, where if you keep it out shot, it’ll probably eye track the person. Content is king though, and the content is gold standard. Keep up the good work.
