Theory? Hancock is the most appreciative of all companions of the sole survivor. He's been hearing a lot of crap in his life first about his drug usage, and then about being a ghoul. He's developed a sense of humor towards everyone who's insulted him, and every 'smooth skin' he's encountered has given him shit for who he is. So when the sole survivor shows that they care for him and want more than just a friendship, he feels extremely lucky. He's the most appreciative of what he has with the SS, and why he's one of the only companions that actually says he loves you. No one has ever been really that kind to him, and now that he has someone there for him, it pains him to give it up, and he's willing to fight to get it back. Or maybe screw all that and it's just the chems

Caroline Ramirez exactly Hancock always seemed like one of the most humane of all companions(he tries to make the most of the life he has been given, very straightforward with you but also tries not to judge you and tries his best to look out for you) and also the one who deals with a lot of crap but still decides to be a nice person at the end of the day. And I think he needed someone like the player character to just say that he is enough, that he does have his faults but he is a great person at the end of the day. I also think, like you said, he needed someone to connect with because I think most people take him for granted without meaning too.

I am complete ghoul loving trash and I can say with 100% accuracy that Hancock will butter you up with the most hopelessly romantic banter. He frequently comments on how lucky he is to have you and how you "complete him". It just makes me melt, sometimes. Too many people are missing out by NOT romancing him, making excuses about his appearance. Give the guy with the "sexy, King of the Zombies" look a chance. You won't be disappointed.

My favorite ones were Hancock, Danse, and MacCready. Their ones' just felt so genuine and honest while I think the other companions were thinking about the conversation and their decision a little too much and while we were in the middle of it too. basically it felt like they were conflicted the whole time and that is not fair to the Sole Survivor.

I kinda hate how all of the companions are like "you should change" and not just "we don't work". And then when you get back they're like "yay you listened to me and changed yourself completely". I get why they do it that way but it's hard to construct a realistic romance in a choice game like this.

Funnily when I started the game I had decided to romance Danse. I was ready to romance anyone but MacCready. I even worked super hard to get Danse to like me- but, when the moment came I somehow picked MacCready. He's generally a lot more sensitive, open and honest and I think I liked that in him. Even breaking up he's pretty gracious.

+Carsten Hansen I think it's canon that people /have/ been able to travel, at least between America and Europe. I think it was Tenpenny or...someone, who said they actually emigrated from England. Maybe Cait didn't, but one of her parents did, or someone else who raised her, even though that's still a slight bastardization of how accents work lol. Curie is different though. Her accent is programmed, just like Whitechapel Charlie. So that makes sense at least.
