Stay Woke actually I did "break up" with a friend of seven years about a year ago and took the time to explain that I can't tolerate the way she behaves towards me when she's on drugs any longer. So, if there is something seriously wrong with the friendship and I've come to the point where I literally can't take it any longer and it's a person that's important to me, for sure I will "have the balls" to tell them why the friendship is over. It takes me a long time to even get to that point. However, when a friend (even a good friend that I've been friends with for a couple of years) never texts me first anymore, only ever replies with emojis or "haha yes", doesn't tell me about their life anymore if I don't specifically ask, let alone asks how I'm doing, if I feel like I don't even miss that person that isn't showing interest in our friendship anymore (despite being mad at them for behaving that way), if I realize there are things about them that have always bugged me (i.e. talking disrespectfully about other people, passive aggressiveness, lower IQ, just to name a couple current examples) I think I have every right to break contact with them because for all I know they don't even care if we are friends any longer because if they did, they wouldn't act that way. If I now texted out of nowhere "I think this friendship doesn't make sense anymore because of the aforementioned reasons" they would just be like "OK lol whatever" and then talk about me behind my back, tell all my secrets to other people, put me under negative energy, change the story to their liking. So yeah. Slowly letting the frienship drift apart because of the possibility that this might in fact just be a phase because they're too busy with other things or because we're just not "vibing" with each other atm is better than getting into a massive argument blaming each other with no chance of ever being real friends again. Does that justify my first comment (that obviously wasn't 100% serious) to your liking lol

Let me just say, I read every. single. word. I was just in a very similar situation with a few friends I considered myself close with. I almost wanna screenshot this and send it to them, but that wouldn't do me any good. You obviously know the right way to handle toxic relationships. What I was concerned with was the practice of people who actually do "ghost" people out of nowhere. Went on a few dates, they felt things didn't go well? Ghosted. Had an argument with a close friend? Blocked. Things of that nature. Avoiding conflict is never the answer. However, continuing to engage in conflict to no end is also not the answer. I think you found that silver lining which is something I'm sure a lot of people go their entire lives without finding. Props to you for being the bigger person.
