The theory on the Kop I like is that they are negotiating to buy the student flats property. Don't know what else would account for such a delay. The flats are the major impediment to a full stadium overhaul which seems to be the focus now.

I count about 150 seats per row across the temporary stand. If they add more seating per section of scaffolding efficiently, it would be six more rows. That would be 900 extra seats :) maybe when I visit from Canada, I can book one.

Unless a women's team is in the WSL and are Chelsea, Arsenal, City, Liverpool or Man Utd it's very rare you'll hear or see anything about them unless you actually follow the team religiously. Women's teams from lower league teams just aren't big enough or generate anything near enough to gain coverage.

Excellent update. I may be in the minority here but I love the fact you included an update on loans. Fans often wonder what happened to players they have got know, whether they move down, up, or overseas, it's fun to track them and their success (or other). I think the Kop Stand delay is due to Rob & Ryan holding back on the current incremental approach to increasing the Race Course capacity. They may be considering outright razing the stadium instead and building the desired 40-50k capacity stadium from scratch in a year or two.

Mo Faal. American fan here. Really hope to be able to attend a Wrexham home match early next year. But I'm older and cannot stand for that entire time. You might want to keep that in mind when the discussion about standing comes up. And frankly, some of the fans' vehemence about standing is a bit frightening. Not sure I would be brave enough to ask someone to sit. Is it possible to switch seats during a match? I have been able to attend several Championship League matches in the past. Their fans do sit about 70-80% of the time.

I am just assuming the standing issue is to prepare for…Championship League football? Standing is less tolerant in the Championship and Premier League.

When the release says, "the club has been contacted", that almost certainly means either by regulatory authorities or someone threatening to bring regulatory authorities in. The New Kop is supposed to have safe standing. As far as the temporary stand, if they are expanding it, that suggests that the revamped design of the New Kop is going to have a larger footprint, so it needs more footings for the New Kop stand, then using those footings for the temporary stand just requires putting them in a little earlier than construction of the New Kop itself. The revamped Kop means that they are going to have to go through the approval process again.

Hi Liam, I think some security guys were asking people to sit down at the back of the Mold road stand on Saturday which is a shame. I don't know why people at the back can't stand up. Starting to get a good atmosphere in there with the new temporary stand. Hope the club don't have to enforce something silly. I guess it's growing pains with getting max attendances. Good problems to have.

Yeah, it's very inconvenient to try and get everyone to stay sitting but the rule exist because 97 people died in the 1989 Hillsborough disaster. Crow crushes happen in the US so it's good the club is trying to change fan habits now because the attendance record is only going to be continuously broken as we all know it will. Better the club cares now when there's still lots of space rather then struggling in vain when the stadium is pack because good things kept happening.

Texas A&M University collage football has had students standing all game on bleachers for almost 100 years. I have never heard of any safety issues caused by standing? Not sure what the EFL concern is.

@@stephendeadman7131 I think they're gearing up to buy the uni flats and do a huge reno of the stadium an so are conserving money until such a point. We know that Rob wants the Racecourse to be pretty huge so it makes sense to wait a bit until they can do it properly.

I overheard a steward talking and he was saying they took a picture of a section of the tech end that was licensed to hold 300 people. They counted 450 people in that area. It seemed like he was suggesting the issue is overcrowding more than it is people standing. They were also checking peoples tickets when entering U6 and U7.

Many Baseball and Football stadiums in the US are designed to have standing areas where people go to watch the game. I’ve heard of old stadiums prevent people from bouncing in the stadium but any rules for this are building specific. Having the league try to restrict people from standing in their seats is just crazy.

There have been major issues surrounding standing in the UK, specifically Hillsborough where nearly 100 Liverpool fans were crushed to death.

It’s tough to compare the racetrack to many US fields/parks/stadiums - in the US most are either relatively new (and thus made to code much stronger) or old/empty like some of our minor league baseball parks - the racetrack can’t be demo’s and rebuilt so they’ve got to worry about the standing (and jumping up and down) all game long. I LOVE going to certain MLB parks (for example Tampa Bay Rays) or minor league parks (like Fenway South) in Southwest Florida where there is lots of standing room - but the Racetrack as is just doesn’t have the area for that.

The heavy reliance on terraces in UK football grounds were found to be a contribution to several problems -- as andyonions7864 notes, Hillsborough was the worst -- so the EFL went to all-seated stands, and then after people pushed back "safe standing" was introduced. Unfortunately, it seems like the seats in the Tech end may be too close together to install safe standing without losing a substantial amount of capacity.

@@BruceMcFarling Now this is a difference between the UK and the US. While we may have some fights in the stands the fans aren’t segregated and they don’t typically riot or get out of hand and kill each other every few years.
